Oh okay, just out of curiousity.. why? If you apply to extend your visa and you get another 6 months and apply outland, in most cases in Mexico you should get your PR at 6 months (as long as you as you pay the right of landing fee right away)

In the case of inland, you can apply to get an open work permit (something not possible to do when applying outland,) but you don't get it until the first stage is complete (sponsorship approval) which is approx. taking 9 months.

Something to think about.

Thanks for your response.

I came last year on February, and I got married last December. For now we decided that I will apply inland for my PR and hope for to get it asap, but still I would like to work.

Is any other way to get it?

Well like I said, as long as you maintain legal status in Canada, there is no reason why you cant apply outland to Mexico and get your PR processed withing 6 months (you can look at other peoples timelines on this thread, most are within 6 months)If you really want to work while you apply outland you would have to send in a separate work visa application, but I am not sure how long those are taking to be processed right now.

OR

You can apply inland and along side your application apply for an open work permit which would be granted to you after the first stage, sponsor approval, which right now for inland is taking 9 months. If you want more info on inland applications I recommend you join the inland thread.

Suerte.

I agree with mc1234.

Unless there is a legal reason to apply inland if you case is a regular case the outland application will get you a chance to work faster than the inland.

Outland is taking 6 months from the begining to the end. (average)

inland is 9 months for the fisrt stage only (average)

I think what they are trying to say is you can apply outland via Mexico City but still live in Vancouver... You don't have to physically be in Mexico to apply outland.

You need to follow the outside for family class Canada guidelines.. have you already gone for your medical?

Here is the link to all the guidelines and applications for outside Canada, if you are going apply out land use these forms, not the ones for inland. Make sure you look up the region specific guide for Mexico as well as it gives the specifications for what is needed at the Mexico City office for Mexican Nationals.

No, I havent done my medical exams, since I was following the other process I was waiting for the request, but now Im going to start reading all over again.

I think we have most of the information, let me read this process and I will contact you if I have any other question.

My TRV expires next March, should I send my extension request before or after my PR application...

Thanks

It depends, does anyone know if the same form is used to pay the fees inland and out land?

If that's the case (that they are the same), I would pay the fees and then submit the proof that you are going to be applying for PR with your visitor extension application to show proof you are not just trying to live in Canada on a visitor visa and give more merit to your visitor visa extension application. I am almost certain you must maintain legal status in Canada when applying out land so this is very important.

If I were you, I would find out if I could get the extension asap, because in your case, it basically chooses for you what route you should go (inland vs. outland)

Do you have a single entry visa or multiple?

To add, when you do your medicals make sure you tell the doctor it is for OUTLAND process if you decide to go that route. I have been told the medical documents for inland/outland are different, and with immigration, you can never be too sure.

The other thing that you need to take in consideration is the process to request the Mexican Federal Police check. it is a little different inland/outland if you read some of my older posts you will see that we used the services of the Mexican Embassy to help us to request the "constancia"

The outland route is faster, it allows you to leave Canada without putting your application at risk (you may not be able to come back unless you have a mutiple entry visa) the down side is that they may call you for an interview (Mexico City) but if on the other hand if on the inland process they call you for an interview that may delay your process more than six months

My advice is to read as much as you can and ask questions

Before we sent our application I spend two months reading and asking questions that help me a lot

Good luck

Great advice, Islenio.

Likewise, I also spent A LOT of time of this forum reading, reading the guides, gathering advice, planning, etc. Geese, sometimes I thought I was driving the Mexico thread members crazy, but everyone has been and is so very helpful! Smiley You have to choose the route that is right for you and your spouse.

And dont be afraid to ask questions, were a friendly bunch!

Good luck!

Islenio since I caught you on here I have two questions for you!

1) How long did the Mexican embassy take to get the Constancia for your wife, any advice on that? Should we go ahead and order it ahead of time once were a few months in, or wait for the letter to be sent out?

2) What Mexican embassy did you use, the Toronto based one?

Thanks a bunch!
