Hey Guys,
Couple questions with your applications.  How many pictures did everyone send?  And I notice in some of your profiles it says "visa issued" What does this mean exactly, is it like a visitors visa or a special visa for PR status? How long after getting the visa do they finish the application?

It's looking like things are going much faster than the 14 months quoted on the website, good news!

Any advice please send my way.  Taking the next 2 months to complete the application and will be sending it in April!

Thanks everyone, goodluck!
Shelly

Visa issued means they have placed the PR visa into the passport after the passport is requested. For example, our passport request was June 1st, we sent the passport and the embassy placed/issued the PR visa on June 15th.  You get the passport back with the visa inside and you land.

I can't remember how many photos were sent probably 5 to 10 per year of our relationship, so maybe about 40-ish.

As per La_Ardilla, they sent the passport via UPS back in June, it took two weeks to get the visa and one to two weeks for the embassy to courier it back

YAZ, please keep us posted, we will see how long it takes this time

In our case it took a little more than a month to get an email from the embassy (AOR) and a couple a weeks after we got the request for the "constancia"
Keep in mind that December is a slow month our PPR took 10 days more than expected

Did you get the AOR and the constancia request by email?

Hello

I Talked to a consultan yesterday and she told me not to apply Overseas in Mexico.
(Im still in Canada at the moment) because it takes 14 Months. But for what I read it looks like is
Faster. Do you guys know if it really takes 14 months? How long has your process been?

If I don't send my application Inland,I am going back to Mexico this month but I over stayed with out status for a year because my marriage certificate had a spelling mistake and it took 8 months to correct!! (yes!! 8 months) do you think I'll have  problems wih the overseas app because of that?

As per the CIC website:

Inland

11-12 Months Step 1

8       Months Step 2

Outland

3 1/2 Months Step 1

14     Months Step 2

Keep in mind that these numbers are the average for 80% of the cases

I think is a personal choice:

if you apply inland you can get an Open work Permit at the same time you finish step 1 (Assuming that you applied for one at the beginning of the process) but you won't be able to leave Canada until all the process is completed

if you apply outland you can always leave the country in case of emergency but you may have to go to Mexico for an interview.

Based on my research outland is almost always faster and that is why we applied this way

Are you in Canada or Mexico? I been told that some people apply overseas
But they remain in Canada, but what happends if you loose status?.

If you apply overseas restoring your status is something you have to do separately than your PR paperwork.

If you apply inland you submit the application to restore your status along with the application and it is updated (I think this is a major reason why people choose the inland route)

Unfortunately as per the guide by CIC, you can only restore your status if has been less than 90 days, so if you want to stay in Canada, at this point I believe your only option is to apply inland. That is why CIC suggested for you to apply inland,  since if you were to apply outland you will have to wait outside of the country because you cannot apply from a country in which you have no status (especially Canada)

Here is the link: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/5552ETOC.asp#restoration

This is all just my opinion, but I am quite certain about it. If you want further advice I suggest you consult a lawyer/immigration consultant since your case is a little sticky.

All the best to you.

My wife is here with me in Canada, she came as a visitor and we got married after. We sent the application a month after.
We just extended her visitor status until the end of the year.
But I expect to get her PR before that

How did you extend it for 1 yr. This would help us all.
