Has anyone tried calling the Mexico city office.
what is the number to call?
The number on their website doesnot seem to work.

I think the best way is to send an email and even in that case people have reported that they never replied.

You can always send a case specific request

Hi Everyone,
Hoping you can help!
I'm just about to start the application process for Common Law partnership.  I live in Mexico so we are applying outland.  I'm curious as to if I need a co-signer.  I can't seem to find any info regarding this in the maze that is the Immigration Website.  Can you point me in the right direction?
I clear about $950 per month Canadian working part time in Mexico, is this going to be sufficient to sponsor??

Thanks for your help!

Hello,

Me and my SO are also about to apply common-law as well, we are in Mexico now preparing our documents. There are no financial requirements to sponsor your spouse, but obviously it looks better to have some source of income that shows how you can support yourselves in Canada. I believe it is only if you are sponsoring a dependent child that there is a financial requirement!

I just did, but based on the timelines of the people that applied last year it takes around a month to get the passport request and it was december after all (Christmas, New Year, etc)

let's see...............

I think (as well) that it'll take around a month to get PPR after dropping off the constancia. When I did it I asked the lady "What was the next step" That's when she told me that It will take one week maybe two to process the constancia then she said to email them in about 2 weeks If haven't heard anything back...

I'm not planning on email them after 2 weeks, I want to wait around 40 days as everyone else. I know Immigration officers say whatever it comes to their minds just to give you an answer.  Anyway I think You're very CLOSE (Islenio) and If everything goes well my time will come too!

Quick question, for 'Schedule A - background /declaration' it says that the principal and his or her spouse or common-law partner must complete this form.. meaning if I am the sponsor, I must complete this form as well even though I am a Canadian citizen or only those applying for permanent residence?

Thanks for the clarification in advance Smiley

Principal applicant is the one applying for PR. You are the sponsor. Only the person being sponsored needs to complete the background check.

Can someone please post what a PPR request says.
Does it also give the option of going to Mexico and having the visa stamped the same day??

Thank you everyone for your well wishes.  Its great to be here... and yes it is a bit chillier than Mexico....

I will post my complete time line soon... There is just so much to do.....

Application received CPC-M  7  FEB 11
Sponsorship Approved         29 APR 11
AOR Email received             14 JUL 11
PPR                                  13 JAN 12

Yes the PPR gives you the option to go to Mexico and get the visa the same day..... and in my case I only had to be in Mexico city the next business day after they called with PPR and was required to land the following day!!!

@  MrandMrsromero thanks, I am still pulling for you !

Huron, why were you required to land the next day after PPR?  Were your medicals running out or your passport expiring?  How does that work?

All I can say, is WOW.  And welcome to winter ;-)   I'm not on the thread as often as I used to be (acceptance of a long wait I guess).  But check back here once in awhile to make sure I'm alive, kay?  Big congrats.
