ReginaC,
The letter won't take long time, something interesting for us is that we received the letter 11 days after we got the email and the post mark was from Ottawa Ontario it looks like DFAIT sends the stuff to Canada and then is gets mail by Canada Post

Handed our PGR in at Mexico City on the 28th of November. I have been looking at other profiles and it seems that the PPR is usually happens about a month after handing in the PGR. I hope this stays true. I am just thinking about the future, Does anyone know the rules about landing in Canada? More specifically about the time limit you have until you have to be there?

The PR Visa is usually valid for one year after the medicals or the validity of the passport whichever come first. If you receive you visa this year and if your passport expires after April 4th, the date of your medicals, you will probably have until April 4 2012 to land.

If you mean received by CPC-M, they are only working on applications received until Oct 3rd 2011, so they have not even opened your file yet. If you mean received by the Embassy in Mexico City it usually takes a couple of months to receive the AOR from the Embassy. The Embassy in Mexico City also says that if you have not heard from them in 6 months you should contact them via mail or email. So in your case that would be April 2012. You can check current processing times here http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/perm-fc.aspMost of the information I have read says that it is better to wait for the embassy to request new meds. Hope this info helps

I am having hard times posting without quoteing (hope there is a word), may be i am just very clueless. Thanks for ur answer. I did check and you are right. I will have to wait a week or so. Hopefully i will get it soon. I did not send any police certificates, not even the state ones, as it says on the website that they would ask for them. I hope they will not return my application because of it. I cannot wait. Also, my husband has a bit of a criminal record. Stupid things from his youth. Does anybody know of any refussal because of a sponsors criminal record? Did you trasnlate your police certificates?
Sorry for so many questions but i am still have a lot of doubts. Take care.
Hope this info helps [/quote]

We sent the state police certificates with our application, and we did get it translated. I think you only get the federal ones once they ask you for them, because they give you instructions on how to get them.
Iīm not sure about this, but I think the criminal record could affect the application depending on what he actually did and how long ago it happened. I donīt think the sponsorīs criminal record matters because they donīt ask for any police checks for the sponsor!
Good luck!! Hopefully you hear some good news in about a week!

@ Queen Mason OK so I think you are saying that CPC-M received your file on October 13th. If that is the case yes you have a little more waiting to do before you will hear something about your sponsor approval. I would think that you should hear something before Xmas. You are supposed to provide police certificates from any Mexican state or foreign country that the applicant lived in for more than 6 months (including undocumented stays in the USA if applicable) with the initial application. If the applicant has only lived in Mexico City (DF) their whole life then there is no initial police report to send because Mexico City only uses the federal report. The Embassy will give you instructions for the Federal police report after they receive your file. Concerning Translation I believe that the police reports should be translated if they are not in English or French Concerning an Applicants criminal inadmissibility you may want to check the FAQs here Frequently asked questions: Overcoming criminal inadmissibility http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/faq-inadmissibility.aspA sponsor may be deemed ineligible to sponsor because of a criminal record when they (the sponsor) " were convicted of a violent criminal offence, any offence against a relative or any sexual offencedepending on circumstances, such as the nature of the offence, how long ago it occurred and whether a pardon was issued
or are in prison http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/sponsor/relatives-apply-who.aspSo the criminal record of both the applicant and the sponsor are important.

thanks for your help. I just realized I have made a horrible mistake. I am freaking out. I did not fill out one blank where they ask for the sponsors current address in canada. They will return it forsure? Is there a way that i could send that form again so they can add it to my application before is open? Please, help.

It is hard to say what will happen since you did not say which form you are talking about. If you did not provide an address there is no way for them to send the file back to you. Perhaps they will email you or call you if you provided that information. You will just have to wait and see. There is no way to send additional information until it has been requested or until you have a file number. So again you will have to wait and see.
