If you can, I would send them in all together.  That way it is less likely that something gets misplaced!

To avoid that I always hand everything in person, since the embassy is like a 15 minute walk from where I work. Smiley They also gave me a new File number after the appeal, that's interesting.

Make sure you take him during the day! The first time I went there was at night because I had been invited to a party. And I still can't get over the image of Americans wearing tacky gold chains, driving a BMW with spinning rims and blasting their hip hop music.  Shocked

ok so I am thinking about getting all the documents together for requesting the PGR, then going to the embassy and asking for the letter requesting the PGR from them, and then taking that all over to the PGR on the same day.

Is that possible? or do I have to wait for the letter in the mail?

Interesting. From what I've read here you apparently have to wait for it, but if you do end up doing that, let me know! I've had some bad experiences with Correos de Mexico so I'd rather do that.

Is there a ban? We left (according to them) with a "Departure order becomes Deportation Order" on May 2008, so 4 years ago. So I don't know if there's a specific time-frame. I know misrepresentation is a two year ban, but that wouldn't apply to me.

The complicated thing is, I emailed them like 3 years ago asking if I needed an ARC to go back, they said I didn't, but that there was an error in the system saying I did, so I traveled to Canada and I was stopped at the airport and sent back because I needed one according to them. So I don't know if I need one or not, but they're not asking for one right now, so hopefully I won't need it!

Also, I just called the DMP and it will cost me 1400 pesos for all the exams, when I first started my application and submitted them they charged me $300 USD, what a ripoff!

It sounds to me you had the same order as my fiance (Departure order) this is when you have been asked to leave and do so on your own accord, that comes with a one year ban after that you are free to come back, I have heard conficting information regarding the ARC, we have been told we will need one even though he will return after the one year ban because the process for sponsorship was started during the ban, however I have also been told the opposite, perhaps something they leave to up to the embassy, I am not sure.

Also the order that they gave you at the time of deportation will state how long your ban is, ours did on the exculusion order which we also had to provide with the sponsorship package, so I am assuming you have that.

Thanks for the advice, OhCanadiana.. Something we wil seriously consider after weighing out the pros and cons! I'm curious, is your VO office Mexico City?

I'm familiar with the Mexico details because I helped somebody apply through Mexico City visa office and did most of the research and planning so the trials and tribulations are near and dear to me.   Luckily, they are happily settled now but given that their app went through very well and they are settled without a hitch I figure I'll help others now that that's a Mexico forum.  I was not so lucky and had to figure it all out myself side there were various tricky situations that weren't clear (e.g., much less info on PGR at the time, figuring out moving vs settling, etc) ... took lots of calls and reading of various laws but all's well that ends well.

I wish you all the same luck and hope that your apps go through in record time Cheesy

That would be wonderful ... please report back either way if you try it.  The challenge is going to be that the Embassy doesn't issue the document normally until after you have been approved so you'll have a small window.   For the PGR, just be aware you'll need to go to 2 offices - first to submit the docs and get the order for the forensics unit (in a different office) to take your prints.

Hi Nessa,

In the email that we got there was an option to send a prepaid envelope to the embassy to avoid the hassle and stress of the Mexican mail system. It was a lot more expensive (600 pesos from Merida-DF and back through DHL; if you are in DF it might be about 200pesos) but it was very quick. The official request arrived to us within 2-3 days and we were able to then go to the PRG to get the constancia done. For us anyway, there was not an option of picking up the letter from the embassy.

In case anyone has their spouse in Canada with them, the Mexican Embassy in Canada can also get you a PGR request letter, and also prepare the package for you (free of charge) so if the one from the Canadian embassy is taking a while, that is always an option.

ARC information is SOOOO confusing!! It gets to the point that not even CIC knows what's going on! I have nightmares at least once a week that I'm granted my PR visa and that I'm sent back at the airport because I don't have an ARC and CIC never asked me to submit one! I read the one year thing, I also read that dependents of the main refugee claimant (my dad) need not apply, so that would exclude me. I don't know anymore what's going on.

Hello Margarita!

One question! How do you do that? I got my email yesterday and I live in Mexico City. Can you please tell me how do I go about sending them a prepaid envelope? Those guys in a document they sent me, they still have my Tijuana Address (I've asked them to change it 5 times!) so I don't want to wait. Do I go to DHL? or What do I need? Please help! Smiley
