Read this article, it might give you a different perspective than the ones you normally read:

http://www.huffingtonpost.ca/douglas-anthony-cooper/canada-attack-resort_b_1232486.html

That article is one of my favorites <3

P.S I chose to withdrawal the application, however I don't think this will be a problem for us anyway.  You will be eligible to sponsor.

Does anyone own a house in Mexico or in another country?  I'm just wondering what happens at tax time and what we need as we own 2 properties, one with a house and we really don't have any type of house papers or anything for it... only property papers.

well you have to report foreign property worth more than $100,000 CDN on a T1135.

here's the link

http://www.cra-arc.gc.ca/E/pbg/tf/t1135/

read up about it a bit and maybe go see an accountant if things are unclear...try a free consultation Wink

HI there,

These forms are complicated to sponsor my mexican husband into canada, is there somewhere like on CIC webpage, or anywhere i can pay a little bit too to help fill these out?Huh

Not sure what to do, but definately can not afford the immigration lawyer of 4000.

Thanks for any help

You should follow the guide as you do the paperwork.. it will really help a lot.

Guide One: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/3900ETOC.asp

Guide two: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/3999Etoc.asp

In most cases, a lawyer is not necessary.. unless your case is really complicated. If not, it should be pretty straight forward once you get the hang of how things are! Smiley

@   Canadiangirl, yeah you should visit Cancun, Cancun is amazing and has beautiful beaches.. or you should visit Playa del Carmen!! I love it there, it is so nice and pretty reasonable priced. It has a really cool European feel to it Smiley  From there your husband could take a flight or the Bus (ADO is the popular bus company for Quintana Roo) to Oaxaca .. you would just have to make sure a bus goes there Smiley

@   memexico, Oh wow.. well hopefully your application will have a quick turn around time! A few members that recently got their PR from Mexico City waited 6 months total.. so by July he just might have it Smiley I would say 13 months is defiantly not the norm, but it does happen. Have you thought about getting a visitor visa for him to come here?

Hi mc1234! Believe me, we've tried several times to get him a visitor visa, but CIC won't give it to him Sad 'cause before I met him, he entered "de mojado" (illegally) in the US, as, you are probably aware, a lot of Mexicans do. So yeah, no visitor visa for him even if he legally came to Canada twice before the visitor visa was mandatory. Thanks for cheering me up though Smiley I do have faith that it won't take too long 'cause CIC already has a lot of information on him, they even did a kind of security check when he applied for a work visa last year, so crossing fingers here! Thanks, I love this forum!

Np Chica! I don't know too much about entering the US illegally..but, if he was there for a while (more than 6 months I think) he is going to have to get an FBI check.. don't quote me on this.. but, I remember reading it a few times and I am mentioning it b/c I heard they take some time to get so you would be better off starting that process now if you haven't already! There are some people in similar situations so maybe they could tell you what he would need to do.

Oh man, I had never thought of that!  Angry
I'll call CIC on Tuesday and see what they say about that! I know that for Mexico, we wait for CIC to ask for the police clearance, so maybe they'll ask for the FBI clearance at the same time?? That'd not be good 'cause I just checked the site and it says it takes 18 weeks to get it! No manches! Thanks anyways for the information, I'll make sure I have answers on Tuesday!

Interesting that you were able to get the FBI report without the SSN.  Before my husband left NY he contacted both the NYPD and FBI offices and was told that without an SSN he could not get a police report.  Since he's returned to Mexico we've made inquiries as to where he can go to get the livescan fingerprints done in Mexico City so he can at least try to get the NY state police clearance by mail.  Unfortunately, no one seems to know where he can do fingerprinting in Mexico that is acceptable in the US other than the US embassy in Juarez which is now closed indefinitely.  It has been a bit of a puzzle about what to do, but not for lack of trying!  There is no question that his background check will turn out fine but it would be nice to have a clear answer of how to proceed.  Thanks for the reply javiernica.

Hi! I'm in the same situation, my fiancé was in the States illegally for more than 6 months and I'd like to know if CIC asked you for the FBI clearance and if they did, at what point in they did. Thanks!!
