How long did it take after the email to get the letter?
At this point, I don't recall exactly how long it took, but it seems to me it was around 6 weeks.  I really think it depends a lot on the postal service in your area.

I been monitorting e-cass since we got our passport request and I didn't see any change until today:

We received your application for permanent residence on August 2, 2011.

We started processing your application on November 14, 2011.

A decision has been made on your application. The office will contact you concerning this decision.

We are waiting for our passport, We know we should get it back soon.

Reading your previous posts it seems: you got  AOR email on Feb 4 and letter in mail on Feb 24. So 2 weeks as Feb 4 was Friday.

Well there you go.  Memory loss happens when you've been waiting for a LONG time.  I think perhaps others waited 4-6 weeks - maybe Huron?  I seem to recall something about no gifts for postman day or somesuch:)  In any event, hopefully you get the letter sooner rather than later.

And if that doesn't work at least you'll have something to do to amuse yourself while waiting for the letter!

My CL and I are currently in Mexico. He stayed in Canada with me July-Jan (we left before his visitor visa expired) As some of you know, he has a multiple entry visa to Canada. We are thinking about returning to Canada at the end of the month.. a total of roughly 7 1/2 weeks out of the country.. is this too little? We don't want any problems at customs right before we submit our paperwork..oh, and he has a return trip back to Cancun for July of 2012.. any advice/insight is greatly appreciated!

Well I have only posted a few times, and just wanted to ask you guys who have a lot of knowledge on here!! My daughter and son in law received an email Jan 25th from the Mexico City embassy stating that the crim record forms and directions were in the mail. First question, typically how long does that take to get to them, they are in Cancun. Second, will they be requesting the passport back at the same time with the completed forms, and third, once you get this message, how long typically till they say it is GO TIME! The approval to finally come home to BC!? Thanks everyone!!!

Depends on the local mail speed.
Second, will they be requesting the passport back at the same time with the completed forms,
No, not yet.  Passport request is final step before visa.
and third, once you get this message, how long typically till they say it is GO TIME! The approval to finally come home to BC!? Thanks everyone!!!
Once the passport is requested go time depends on whether the visa is picked up at the embassy in person (same day turnaround) or by sending the passport by courier and waiting for it to come back.

As usual with immigration, the answers are unfortunately fairly standard:  "it depends".

Hey, i sent an email to the VO asking about my medicals. I told them they would expire soon and that they had requested the police certificates but did not mention anything about the medicals, so, they answered back and sent me a form to get them done too. I am so happy for it. If you guys are in my situation, you could email them to save some time. Take care

Well that's good - at least you can prevent a delay.

In our case, we just can't seem to catch a break.  The response to our email regarding re-medical was "we strongly advise against redoing the medical without receipt of instructions to do so from our office".  I guess it is simply because there is no way to know how long all the security clearances will take and, it is not over 'til its over.  *sigh*

In other news, hubby's address has still not re-appeared on eCas.  So I'm hanging on to my little fantasy that this is a good sign!
