I finally have the notice that medicals were received.

"We started processing application on July 13, 2009.

We transferred your application to the New York office on July 21, 2009. The New York office may contact you.

Medical results have been received."

Does that mean they may be asking for the passport soon?

The passport request is usually the next step, yes, unless something else comes up (like the background check revealing something bad for example). Nobody can guarantee how soon it till be though. Hang in there!

Did you not send your medical exam results at the same time as your application?

Just curious, because I thought you had to send it all off together at once... maybe I am misunderstanding your post, though!

Hi ekristensen!

Yes we did do the medical before sending anything in, so sent the medical form with the whole application. So what happened was I was approved to sponsor, then they sent the file to Buffalo. From there it was sent to NYC, but the status never mentioned medicals. Finally Monday I see that the status now says Medicals Received. I took that to mean maybe we were getting closer to the end, but at least that something that happened since we last had an update over two months ago.

Mine was sent to NYC too and it took about 2 months to process from there. Mine said "medicals received" even before they transferred the file. Hang in there!
