Is this Trend based on CEC applications or PNP?

Because I have noticed that their applications are processed quicker than ours

That is because the number of PNP application is  far more than CEC. Target for CEC only 5000 maximum per year where as PNP admit 40,000 that means the volume of PNP application is 8 times larger than CEC. (see here http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/publications/annual-report2010/section2.asp#part2_1)

Also in last year, CIC issued less CEC visas than its target and exceeded the quota for PNP. They have to slow down PNP this year and speed up CEC to balance. Processing time chart on CIC website is incorrect.

Hmmm Interesting! Guess that makes alot of sense.

Honestly I am getting impatient in trying to figure out how they operate!

Truongan is absolutely right about the quotas on CEC and PNP class..

we need someone from us with a positive reply this week to believe that we all will be getting a PPR soon. Remember, its end of the year and quotas are almost about to get full.
Last year, my friend got stuck in this quota scheme end of the year and had to wait another 4-6 months to get his PPR. His file got transferred to detroit and they found something in his mediclas and had to re-do it again. I could see the frustration on his face; especially when all his friends filed at the same time and the difference between their PPR was over 6 months.

The quota issue is another thing that is worrying because the end of year is near...I hope and pray none of us gets stuck in it!

I am in same boat I send my medical on 26th September and my status updated to Medical Received on 14th October 2011. No idea what is behind curtains.

It updated pretty quick for you. file reached 26th sep.....medicals revieved on e-cas on oct.14... (18 days)

for me: reached ottawa aug. 26th, medicals recieed on e-cas oct oct 10........(44 days)..

Something dosent seems right here...
..
If they say what they say that "medicals recieved" on e-CAS means decision has been made....than its a little awkward....

So they mean to say that they finalise the case just in 2 weeks after they recieve the medicals...to me this is too good to be true....

any inputs guys..?

I still do not understand to why is that , that not all of us sees "application was started processing on XXXX"
...

"medicals recieved" is normally after "you application in processign at XXXX"

I read a post from someone earlier that his "process application" was after " medicals recieved"...
i believe its because he had a new born baby and the baby's medical was sent like alomost a month after them...that could be the case where it requires some office work from the visa officer....and it went to " application in process"

That is because your file was screened by Ottawa Pilot Project. They do updates more often than Buffalo. Buffalo cases have status remain the same on Ecas under 'application received' but that doesn't mean applications are not in process. As soon as background checks are completed file will be brought to VO desk again.

Those whose files were transfered to Ottawa will get an 'extra line' stating 'we started processing your application on xxxx'. After initial review by Ottawa, files will be transfered back to Buffalo for further processing. Under current Law, only visa posts outside of Canada can issue immigrant Visa. Ottawa serves as a 'help desk' Smiley

Buffalo should process applications based on the order, not a random draw.

I am missing one important thing in what you quote above, my file was not transfered to any location.

Well then if thats the case then your VO is good at keeping you informed via Ecas, while for the many of us, we deal with other VOs.

I assume you are on the stage of background screening, mostly done by CSIS. If your travel history is simple, CSIS check wouldn't take long, how long, nobody can tell, because they are intelligence agents.
