Hi Guys. I would just like to know if one of the member of the family failed in the MEDICAL EXAM (not the principal applicant), will all the rest of the family get affected? will the application be denied? Anxiety and fear are killing me. Sad(

Hello Rossie , I already mailed my passport 16  days ago... today i am able to track it back from there side (fort errie).. so was thinking about landing procedure.. Thanks for the information.. i have one more question.. I want to travel india after landing.. Is there any travel document that i can get after landing so that i dont have to wait for my PR card..
You will require Permanent Resident Travel Document (PRTD) to re-enter Canada from India if you don't have your PR card with you. But it's not recommended for inland applicants as PRTD is meant for PR outside Canada whose PR card expired/lost/stolen.

Here is a CIC link for PRTD: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/travel.asp
I don't know who else does PRTD, but Buffalo certainly do. The average processing time is written 30 days; there may not be same day delivery for in-person request. Here is the link: http://www.canadainternational.gc.ca/buffalo/visas/tdpr_apply-demande_tvrp.aspx?view=d

If your IMM Visa has no time constraint, you can go to India without landing. Then, you can apply for PRTD in India (look for available visa office in CIC website). Or, you can travel back if you have a valid Canadian TRV and land in the airport.

There is a provision by which you will be granted PR but it will be with conditions. If the member has has been diagnosed with TB then you must wait for him/her to be cured.

Hi Rossei, I have a question regarding Travel documents. I have found in the travel documents instruction guide http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/5529ETOC.asp

Travel documents are issued to permanent residents abroad to provide proof to a transportation company that the holder is entitled to re-enter Canada as a permanent resident.
Note to holders of a:
    * Record of Landing (IMM 1000)
    * Confirmation of Permanent Residence (IMM 5292 or IMM 5688)
    * Returning Resident Permit
These documents are not valid for travel back to Canada. You require a permanent resident card or a travel document to re-enter Canada by train, plane, boat or bus.

So, does Record of Landing/Confirmation of Permanent Residence is enough if I drive to cross USA Canada border?  Or I also need travel documents.
Thanks

As far as i know, they lock your address by having it disappeared while they are working on your file, to prevent you from changing it while your case is opened. Address update will allow you to change\ update your address while it is offline.

Hi Friends.. my first post here, although I am a regular reader of this forum and this thread especially has been in very helpful in keeping up with the waiting process. I finally got my PPR yesterday and landed at Buffalo today. My status still shows in Process, and the address is still gone, not that I care anymore..   Grin

My timeline is as follows:
  • I sent in my ontario provincial application on June 17th, 2011
  • received provincial nomination August 31st
  • couldn't send in my federal application till Sept 14 as I was travelling
  • Got AOR / medical on october 27th
  • couldn't get the medicals done till nov 24th as I was travelling again
  • Medicals reached ottawa dec 10th
  • Received PPR from buffalo feb 8th
  • Visa stamped and landed feb9th

Just to clarify...You can't change your address from the e-cas...that thing happened with me and i had to send fax BUT the address change is a good sign for clearing dust and file progress
