So I completed the landing process in Coutts, AB. Fairly easy and no hassles.
Things to take with you,
1) Passport 2) CoPR 3) Proof of residence in Canada (license) 4) All your permits - new old everything.
15 minutes and I was out. The saddest I felt was when the officer threw all my permits in the dustbin in front of my eyes. The latest work permit, I had paid for but still hadn't started using. Alas, its all over!

For those of you waiting for PR Card.
I landed Dec 9 2011 and was told today that the PR Card was mailed out on January 27 2012 and is on the way to me.
It's consistent with their posted timeline on CIC website.

but you don't need it anymore. Old thing gone, new thing come, ^^!!! CIC wants to take it back or you must destroy it because if somebody else have it they can sell this document to undocumented workers. Of course they cannot apply for SIN with this Work Permit but some people are naive and easy to get cheated. You'd better destroy it to have peace of mind. The IO was supposed to ask you to surrender all valid temporary residence permits but she failed to do so.

Make copies of it before u destroy it. Someone told me that these permits help us when we apply for citizenship. Because each day we spend on these permits us considered half a day towards your citizenship. Once I went to Detroit to get my work permit extended in person. While I was crossing the border back to Windsor, ON, I was being issued the new work permit my the immigration officer. She gave me a copy of my old work permit and stamped 'true Copy' on it and kept the old work permit and gave me my new one.

I have a hypothetical question...
Say I get my PPR, I'll go to buffalo in person to get the visa stamped. When driving back into Canada, do I have to land or can I delay it? The reason is, I'd be traveling to india soon after and I won't have a PR card to come back into Canada. I'd rather land at the airport when I return from India.
