Just want to know if X-ray is required for pregnant women. My wife is expecting and we need to submit medical reports but can't go with X-ray as of now.

HI

Yes X-rays are required but if she is pregnant and you dont want to do xrays then you need to inform CHC about this and they will hold your case until baby is born and then you can do the medicals.

Hi There
I have not yet got a medical call for Canadian Medical but i know from my experience with the UK Immigration Medical.
As far the pregnancy issues are concerned i was told at that time by the IOM (that does medicals for UK immigration), that for pregnant women theres a sort of jacket that is worn before Xrays and it saves the fetus from the Xrays. So you have two possibilities
1) either hold the xrays till birth and thats gonna delay your processing
2) or get the Xrays done (and as i was told by the OIM (it probabaly stands for Organization of International Migration) that Xrays with Jacket is perfectly safe

You may consult the department dealing with your medicals about this

Hope this helps

Regards

@ saki: This would delay the processing time of my application. Or, is there a way as suggested by cuccoo0 that by wearing a jacket would save the foetus from exposure?

Hi

I have seen on this forum that people have taken the risk and did the medicals by using these jackets but the result for both who did the medicals and who waited for the delivery is same which is delay until the baby is born, so from this i think even if you done the medicals visa officer will hold your case until the baby is born unless the pregnancy is at early stage like 1-3 months pregnant.

Rest is your choice.

Cheers
