Hi everyone,

My wife's medical is about to expire within 3 weeks. Our file has been in process since August 2010.

I emailed Damascus (March 2011) regarding status and they said:

""""""""
Please be advised that your wife's application is in queue for review by the responsible officer. When a decision is made or we require any additional information or documents, you or your spouse will be contacted.
""""""""

So should we renew our medical or wait for them to ask?
Should we call them or they might extend her medical?

Thanks.

Medicals are not extended for Outland applicants.  If her processing goes past the one year anniversary of her medical, when they are ready to issue the visa, the VO will provide her with forms to re-do the medical.

My husband's medical expired May 12, so we went ahead and he did it again anyway in late April, hopefully that will speed up the process. I don't think it will hurt to do it again before they ask if you want to. If they have to request it that will definitely add more time to your processing.

I think its fine for those who still dont have their pprs yet.. but those who already sent their passports to VO should not get the medicals done.

Same thing happened to my wife's case. Her medical is also expiring on June, 2011.

I emailed Singapore office if my wife can undergo another medical in advance. They replied:

" Please wait for our instruction "

Just one line.

So, looks like you should not go for redoing medical unless they request for it. Just relax and wait for their advice. TC

It's my understanding that when someone needs to REDO the medical that it's possible a different set of forms are sent than the ones that were used initially at the beginning of the application process... I know of someone that went ahead and re-did the medicals (paying all that money) and then had to do them AGAIN because they had to use these special redo medicals forms that were sent a couple of months later.

I agree with you tink23.... forums are different when they request for re-medical.
If you want to send additional supporting documents such as phone bills, photos, letters from friends and family tickets etc etc voluntarily then you can do it. But for Medical and Passport you need to wait for their request.

It's still the same medical exam.  If someone wants to redo it without being asked for it, they are free to do so.  However, the medical request is a sign of approval.  If you are not approved, you have spent money that won't be return.  You CAN do this if you want to.  It will NOT hurt you.

Tink23 is right...
My first medical was april 25,2010 and expired april 2011...
wait for CEM to contact and send you the request to redo ur med..
They will send you different papers or form with ur pictures attached..
Med office (REDO)will ask you the form that embassy sent you...
So better relax n wait for their instruction...
