Hi all,

I am in the process of filling out the immigration forms to sponsor my wife to became PR. She came from Hong Kong to Canada in April 2011 as a visitor and was married in July 2011 (in Calgary).

Is it possible to receive a Police Clearance (Hong Kong) before submitting the application? I have heard from some immigration consultants that people from Hong Kong can apply for Police Clearance without the letter from Immigration Canada. Some said you can't. We are going back to Hong Kong in April so she is planning to get one in person (without the request letter from Immgration Canada). The whole idea of requesting in advance is to save us some time during the application.

Next question - My wife had done a medical examination with a DMP as part of the requirement for extension in Dec. However, the doctor did not give us a copy of the report (Medical Report A). I phoned them and they said they had already sent everything to Immigration Canada and I don't need to worry about. They also mentioned about filling out part A,B,C,D (or something like that) on the form.
Do I need to have that report submitted as part of the application? If not, are there any ways for Immigration Canada to referenced it?

Anyone can clarify these would be great.

Thanks a lot.

Certificate of No Criminal Conviction should be the equivalent of the Police Clearance.  You can use the online form from this webpage to apply:

http://www.police.gov.hk/ppp_en/08_forms/

For details, you can contact their office:

14/F, Arsenal House, Police Headquarters, 1 Arsenal Street, Wan Chai, Hong Kong
Email: eo-cncc-ib  @  police.gov.hk
Tel: 852 2860 6557
Fax:852 2200 4321

For the DMP, your doctor is right.  Do as he said.

Thanks guys. In regards to the medical examination, would my application be delay if the medical report for the applicant is not included in the package? Do I need to attach a letter stating as to why the report is missing?

It's ok to send your application without the CNCC from Hong Kong police.

I'm from Hong Kong too.  I phoned the Hong Kong police number about the certificate. The lady answered the phone told me to wait for the formal request letter from CIC, and they will not process the request without that letter.

I then filed my application (Buffalo visa office).  After getting the UCI/application # from the "Acknowledgement of Receipt" email, I sent a request to the Buffalo visa office asking for the letter to apply for the CNCC.  The response was:

"The letter you are requesting will be issued to you when a formal request is made for the certificate."

In my case, they didn't return my application straight away (or not yet).  CIC processing center received my application, approved the sponsorship, and sent the application to visa office.  Now my application is at the visa office waiting to be processed. I'm anyway in the progress of getting the medical done and sending the report asap.
