Medical done - Waiting for PR visa - passport expires in 2 months!

I urgently need your advice on this. I did my medical yesterday 20/6/2011 and i was informed that the PR visa - when issued - will be be valid for a year from the medical date; which would be up until 20/6/2012. 

the problem is that my passport expires in january, which means that i have less than 6 month to land to canada. i'm tied at work related issues here and "landing" would be suitable for me in the summer time 2012.

My question is: can i renew my passport - with a new number - and sent it to be stamped in the local visa office when asked? should I notify CIC by this change? what is the procedure to follow in my case?

You get a new passport and then send copies of the Bio Data pages to the visa office.

better to apply for new passport now before they request your passport, you can attached the old and new one to be sent to them...
