Med Ex. Renewal on Supervisa

Hi there,

I was thinking to apply for a super visa for one of our parents, but apparently on top of the medical examination they have to pass back home, the can be asked to redo it at a later date.
I was just on the phone today with CIC to ask a different question on the super visa and we came to this. Both the agent and her manager told me that the POE can issue a letter asking them to redo the medical at a subsequent entry.

I was stunned! I asked about any written regulation on the supervisa so that I can make an informed decision but they said there is nothing written and no definite answer. There is no definite regulation on the medical examination requirements for the super visa but for the first entry (up to two years depending on the POE officer) the parent is good. They won't be asked for another medical. But later who knows...
It is at the discretion of the POE officer.

So whoever decides to apply for the supervisa beware if parents have different conditions (elevated sugar or blood pressure or other cardiovascular diseases, traces of blood in urine pointing to kidney problems...) that could require a specialist opinion (ouch!!!!) in case they are asked to undergo a ME in Canada at a later date.

I think it's time for CIC to clarify for everybody what the supervisa rules are before we opt for this expensive option with possible yearly MEs on top!

Anybody heard about this? Any immigration lawyers on the forum?
