Dear All,
I am an Mechanical Engineer with 15 years experience. I had 10 Years of experience as 7312 Heavy-Duty Equipment Mechanics in the past 10 years. and 5 years before as 7216 Supervisors Mechanic Trades
All my job responsibilities as Heavy duty equipment mechanic. I got the detailed experience certificate from my  employer with job title Heavy duty equipment mechanic.
Since the Mechanical Engineer is not listed under the 29 eligible occupations, Can I apply under the NOC 7312 or 7216?
Please clarify. Thank you in advance.

Your education does not have to match your job, but the job duties you perform must match your NOC description.  Does that help?  Hope others with more experience can answer your question if we bring this thread up.

If your job desciption matches the duties of Heavy Equipment Mechanic, then you will be able to apply under that category. You will need to ensure that whatever description you submit to the Consulate describes in detail how you performed MOST of the roles decribed for the job in the NOC.

Only experience in the previous 10 years counts for immigration purposes.
