Hi RITU80,
Sorry for the delay. The number is on the CIC web site 1-888-242-2100, but it can only be called from inside Canada. My husband set up an Internet phone line with a service provider in Canada, so I'd be able to call it.
Turns out, the CIO approved my application on June 26th, but apparently the email they've sent got lost. So, now I have to get my complete application to the local visa office by the end of this week, that's when my 120 days expire. A bit of a challenge, to say the least, especially since I still have to get all my documents translated as they are neither in English nor French.

You are lucky ! Yes you read it right , you are lucky!!
3111 is a specialist doctor , it will take you Looooooooooong years to be one over there . If you are ready to work on walmart/cab driver then it is OK. But makes no sense to me .
Read any online canadian newspaper , you will read stories about doctors working in other professions.....
Well , these are my views , a select few ( <1%) , do make it over there . But then take ur own decision , coz life is urs. Good luck , i am not trying to discourage you .

Hi Majkla,
It would be good if you can share info on what you exactly spoke on phone to obtain your file number.
I am curious to know how the call center agent on the other side was able to retrieve your file with out actually the file number?
Did he/she ask for your date of birth / first name / surname / passport no etc? Please help.
Its been 73 days since my application reached NS office and I am waiting for the AOR.
Note: I tried reaching both the numbers given above in this thread but I am not able to get through to the call center agent.

Don't worry, with 73 days, I wouldn't consider your AOR overdue just yet. I'd recommend to wait another month before ringing the call centre. Lines to the call centre are indeed limited, you're not always getting through. And if more and more people make unnecessary enquires too early in the process, chances of getting through to an agent will diminish even further. Also, the CIC call centre agent can only access applications after they've been recommended by the CIO for further processing.
Once you do call, have your application ready. They're going to ask a number of random questions that you have answered in your application in order to confirm your identity.

Update: My application seems to be back on track. Unfortunately, with an unnecessary three months delay. Delivered my documents personally to the local visa office to make the 120 day deadline. Now waiting for AOR from local visa office.

Hi, I have lost my CIC approval letter. I tried calling 18882422100 but it keeps ringing without a busy tone. Can you please tell me if it is normal that it will keep ringing without a busy tone!! What Internet phone service did your hubby use? Can I obtain my file number by mailing them? Thanks for helping. Hi RITU80,

No, an automated system should pick up almost immediately and ask you if you prefer service in English or French. Did you call during Canadian business hours? "Call centre agents are available Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., your local time." Your local time probably means the time zone of the place you're calling from in Canada (as you'd normally not be able to call from outside Canada). I called at a time when the above rule was satisfied for all Canadian time zones. What Internet phone service did your hubby use? As I'm not sure I'd be allowed to publicly endorse a commercial service, I'm going to send a private message with this information. If you don't receive anything, empty your inbox. Can I obtain my file number by mailing them? Don't know if anybody has ever tried.

Thank you so much for your reply and guidance. The good news is that I did not have to call CIO :) For some reason I was under the impression that I had received the confirmation/approval letter via snail mail. When it was staring at me right there... I had received it via Email and as I happen to be very organized :) I had the email as well as a PDF copy of it.
So I am sending in my completed application next week.
