Hello,
I've got a friend who is over 50 and marrying a Canadian man who is retired and lives on pension, though he has his own farm business. Will Mississauga approve his sponsorship?
Any opinion is welcome.
Thank you

I don't see why he couldn't sponsor, there's no age limit. Unless he's bankrupt or on social assistance (which a pension is not), then he can sponsor.

Everything should be just fine! A pension is not social assistance. However try contacting David Cohen who owns this website. He answers basic questions for free so its worth a shot!

That is a good question. What I do know is that he wont charge for trying to ask one question! I have emailed him on a couple occasions and plan on having a consultation with him next week which I know he charges 100 for. Mine is very case specific. I would imagine that asking whether a pension falls under social assistance or not is a basic question, but your friend may want to just consult with him anyhow. I can let you know how my consultation goes and you can forward that information if youd like. I feel though that it will not be an issue, but sometimes professional assurance is needed! That is what is going on with my case it would seem.

Suin, your friend does not need to worry.  Pension is NOT social assistance.  Two very different programs.  That question is very easy and you don't need to email anyone about it.  Shocked)
