Hi,
I am a Canadian who married in Canada and just got divorced in USA. I am alien resident to US and NON-resident to Canada .
I plan to marry to Vietnamese person in Vietnam, and so I need to proof to Vietnamese government that I am divorced and have no pending marriage to anyone else. I read online to know that I need to get these:
1. A marriage search
2. A Single Status Declaration
3. Statement in lieu of non-impediment
4. If you are divorced, a certificate of divorce or a divorce judgement
5. If you are widowed, you must provide your spouse's death certificate
6. A medical report issued by an authorized medical organization.
7. A long form birth certificate
8. Documents that show your status in Canada
I just got #4 from the US Court; but I don't know who (which government office) to contact in Canada to obtain # 1, #2, and #3. Does Canada eventually know that I am divorced ? Please help...really stuck.
When you got divorced in US, did you bring that document back to Canada for authorization? That's extremely complicated with the marriage paper work in Vietnam. I am Vietnamese and currently hold US F1 student visa. me and my husband got married in US which they never asked such silly things like that, we only gave them our Passport and security number. that's all. my good advice for you is go to Thai lan or Singapore to get married.
