Marriage and sponsorship

I am separated for 4 years and should finalize divorce next month overseas. My boyfriend came to Canada on a visitor visa. We plan to get married in July.

Will there be a problem that I am remarrying a month after the divorce? Will anybody from Government be checking on us from any reasons? He will move to my apartment but also will be staying to his parents house from time to time (much closer to his work).

What will happen after the marriage? Can he stay in Canada while application is in process or he would have to leave.

Your divorce is getting finalized overseas? I belive you need to register the divorce in Canada. You might want to check on that.
If the overseas divorce is accepted, you still need to get some documentation done and I believe there is a waiting period. I'm not sure where u r from..but check this link for Toronto.

Your BF can get married while he is on visitors visa and stay here as long as it's valid. You can apply for an inland PR application, however it takes abt 18 mnths and he won't be able to work for abt 8-10 mnths, until the initial part of the application is complete.
I don't think it'll be prob to get married after a mnth from your divorce as long as you can show evidance that you were separated for 4 yrs (which is actually the date marriage ended, though not legally) and that you have enough proof of your current relationship.

You might want to look at the processing time for your BF's visa office to see if it'll be faster.

luna, getting married shortly after the divorce should not be an issue as long as it is recognhized in CA. I was married 16 days after my divorce was finalized which have been completed 6 months earlier. Don't think I wasn't sweating bullets a month before the wedding

If you are applying inland, he could stay with you in Canada. But, he wouldn't be able to work for abt 8 mnths and will take another 10 mnths to get his PR finalized. This is why people opt for outland as it's faster in certain VO's. The chioce is yours.
You can try extending the visitor's visa if you choose outland process, but chances are he'll be denied as his wife's in Canada.

He can stay in Canada for as long as his visa is valid, and he can then apply to extend it (which may or may not be granted).
What country is he from? For most countries, it is much faster to apply 'outland' than 'inland'. But if he does apply inland, then he can stay while the visa is being processed. If he applies outland, he can still stay until the end date of his current visa (and then maybe get an extension).
