I can imagine how incredibly frustrating that must be for him! I've struggled to find work in my industry in this city - even though I can legally work, I've not worked as much as I'd like to. Certainly the industry is slower than in Melbourne.

Is he on the 90 day visitor visa? And you will just keep extending that until landing? Do you have to keep leaving Canada to extend it?

Tourist Visa extension is done online over the CiC website. Possible to file paperwork, too, but thats just more complicated for both sides.

He's here on a 6 month visitor visa. It's easy to extend, just file the papers a month before it expires and you have implied status until the visa is granted. The last time we extended it, it took 6 months for them to open the envelope so it worked out very well for us.  Cheesy

  Good morning
Hi I am new here and so glad that I found some people who are in the same boat as me. My application was mailed out on the 16th of March and have not heard anything since. Does anyone know if they contact you to let you know they received your application or do we have to wait to here from immigration until they decide if your sponsorship is accepeted or not
I had to go out of town on a quick business trip and asked my sister to mail off for me, she does not know what she has done with the receipt from the post office.does anyone know how I can track and find out if my application was received. PLEASE HELP ME I AM GOING CRAZY WITHOUT ANY INFORMATION......omg I am so nervous and miss my husband so much i just want him here with me OMG

Most people are hearing nothing for 75+ days. They seem to be speeding up but things were at a standstill very several weeks. We don't know why. Without the receipt you can't really track. Sorry.

It has been the norm now, noone has received anything from CIC. That is 1 of the reasons for this thread:
http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/petition-call-to-ministry-of-immigration-for-cics-poor-practice-t100257.0.html

Regarding post office call them to see if they can track it differently

Welcome to the March applicant's page Ready_fi_move_on. Congrats on submitting your application! Now that you've sent it off, it should be somewhere in the 75 day mark before you receive an AOR from CIC. I assume you are applying outland? Some people receive AOR (acknowledgement of receipt) when they start to process the application, but some do not for some reason. The people that do receive one usually get them by email, some by letter. We sent our app's off on March 6 (sent a visitor extension request at same time) and we haven't heard anything back as yet. Welcome to the waiting game!

As per the misplaced receipt from Canada Post:

"If you cannot find your tracking number, we are unable to look it up for you. For privacy reasons we do not keep records of shipments by address or name. The tracking number is only available on the parcel itself and on your receipt." - copy and pasted from Canada Post website.

I hope she can find the receipt!

Nothing. I admire the passion of members who want to make change but the truth is, they will get to our applications when they get to them. And no online petition is going to change it. Unless it has hundreds of thousands of signatures and makes national news. Which it will not. It is better just to wait.

We can do a lot. These people get their salaries from us...these people are in power because some fellow Canadians were ambushed to vote for them  Roll Eyes
