We are here in Surrey, medyo mura kasi ang rent as compared sa downtown Vancouver. Accessible naman kung makakuha ng work sa vancouver...  yeah, after the immigration things in the phils eh papasok na naman kayo sa isa na namang yugto ng madramang buhay.. oo nandito pa rin ako to post updates, kasi medyo naho-homesick ako eh hahahahha..

nice to be hearing from someone who landed already. most of the people who land there seems to lay low dito sa forum kasi nga busy on their "new life" but you still find time to post. salamat sa info. BC bound din kami ng family ko...and you are correct...next item to focus on is where to stay and job hunting. so far kami waiting for passport with visa...pero expect ko within this week mag-DM ang status namin (sana Lord) hehehe. malaking tulong din sa amin tong forum na to kasi kahit paano meron kami idea kung kelan expect ang mga major milestones sa application. kaya kahit paano e maka-prepare nga...as you said... preparation does really make a difference. sana mag-connect tayo once we get there...kahit paano e may network na ang mga pinoys.

hi rene, that's pretty normal sa mga katulad nating baguhan dito... ako nakaka-2 months pa lang dito, pero pang-5 ko nang work now... so habang nag-aantay ng magandang opportunity we need to work on our survival.. pero kung magustuhan mo na yung work na yan eh walang masama hehe..

to all those toronto and vancouver bound immigs pls check availability of jobs. my sister ( 10 yrs in vancouver already) txted me that jobs in vancouver and toronto are scarce nowadays. A friend of hers who landed in vancouve last april is planning to transfer in Edmonton. There are plenty of survival jobs here wag lang tayo maarte and mamili. BUT.... there are plenty of jobs here but not all of them will immediately hire you.... My family and I landed last June 19 and until now i keep on sending my resumes to the hospitals who needs health care aides or nursing attendants and so far wala pang sumasagot. Instead of waiting and not doing anything my wife and I applied on jobs in the malls, supermarkets and coffee shops. so far so good magstart na ako sa tuesday and so is my wife pero im still waiting sa mga hospitals na inaplayan ko since yun ang priority job ko talaga.

yup.... i think that's a reasonable range to work on....depende din sa province na puntahan mo. generally mas mataas dun sa mga center of trade and business. pero of course mataas din ang standard of living dun.

i guess it would help if you have your international license but from what i read, you just need some letter from LTO that certifies you had no accident for a certain period of time. plus possibly a letter of guarantee from your car insurance company that no major claims on accidents have been done on your insurance policy.

nope...bound to vancouver BC. still looking for an airline offering the most affordable price...pero consider ko rin ang PAL kc may bulilit kami kasama

Insurance companies call it travel insurance. For my family of 3 (hubby, ako and baby), we got Bluecross, 658 dollars all in all for 3 months, 100K each person for each illness ang coverage. Kung mag-isa ka lang, mas mura yan. Try to scout for other insurance companies also. Meron din yata ang sun life, statefarm insurance din. Dito na sa Canada binili yung insurance namin. Narito ang Ate ko so a few days before our landing, binili na nya. May waiting period na 72 hrs pag binili mo after your landing. Since may baby kami, I don't want to take the risk na hindi kami covered. HTH.
