hi abilex! i have 3 alisbayan boxes and 1 suitcase. bulky kasi suitcase so i decided to use boxes, pwede lng i-fold pag di na gamitin. i bought balikbayan box cover na rin para di mahirap buhatin ang box.

hello mimi, san mo nabili ang boxes mo ganda? thanks! binigyan kasi ako ng covers pero wala nang boxes... tama kasi to just use the boxes kasi pwede na itapon pag dating don di gaya ng luggage i store mo pa sya...

gandasia, kami din pinag isipan namin dalhin itong si LCD... pero dami nagsabi samin na kahit half the price ibenta, halos yun  na din ipangbibili mo when you get there... lalo na pag sale hehehehe... wala pa hassle sa mga dala mo... pero kung gusto mo dalhin, chika naman sya sa 110v, autovolt mga yan... itong samin sa 110v naka plug kasi apura ang power surge dito nagpalagay ng 110v ang husband ko na outlet...

i met ladyk sa PDOS... she is very nice... leaving sya on the 19th...

AMEN to that!

If you decide to use balikbayan box, suggest ko po to buy double or triple-walled ones kesa single-wall.  Yung single wall parang ang bilis masira or mapunit from the ends nung edges nya where it meets the box lid/opening.  I have one sitting at home holding some new items I bought and susceptible sya sa pagpunit sa corners of the side/lids of the box where you choose as opening if you leave the lids open (like if ini-ipon mo stuff you put in there), hindi pa kinakarga yan ha.. hehe.  So now even though it's not yet fully filled with items, I closed the lids to prevent further tearing.

If I can bring at least 2 boxes on my flight I would except yung pi-pickup sa akin has no space in the car -- I think -- for all two plus maleta plus my carryon (different pa yung carryon tote).  Lol!

As for my LCD (43"), will try and sell it siguro after I get my visa/filed my resignation.

Niche-check if meron yan when you check in at the airport/airline check in counter.  Oh well..

You can google big c cargo, they ship canada to philippines and vice versa. They charge by box since it's by sea but it is 6 weeks transit time.

Medyo hirap siguro magship ng tv coz it's fragile, there's always a risk of damage. Anyway, if you want brand new here dami naman palaging sale dito, bawat holiday meron... They find all sorts of reasons to have a sale Smiley like this father's day...

Thanks rubyalabar, heatspine, canada73 for the relocation tips and info.  hehe!  Will check them out.   Wink

hi, where can we buy double or triple walled boxes?

I got double-walled ones at Ace Hardware and National Bookstore.  Sometimes available, sometimes not.  And all are 20x20x20.  Nothing larger sold.

And don't always rely on what you see or on their salespeople 'cause sometimes they don't know re double/single walled.  I had to ask them, explain, then checked the ones available myself.  hehe!   I thought double-walled or more might be better after my box experience which I posted previously, and after reading an account in another forum where the newly landed immigrant/poster's balikbayan box/es arrived na sira sira na raw (brought along with him on the flight... probably with a layover) and that good thing daw he put the things inside in another plastic or other container within the box so hindi naman nagkalat yung mga items.

Single-walled costs less than a hundred I think.  Kung merong triple-walled I probably would have gotten those but have never come across any yet.

double walled box is enough (you can still re use it) & do not use regular duct tape, hindi sya dumidikit sa box ng matagal (observe it 1-2 days). mas ok pa packaging tape yung brown or if u want duct tape buy the extra strong one. ang mahal kaya ng duct tape dyan cost arnd P500 sa SM.

how about catholic school it is also free.....  ill post the link where qorax discussed the canada schooling system & you will learn fr this topic

http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/school-admissions-read-all-about-it-here-t72241.0.html

quote from Pippin :

For many years, I was in and out of public and private schools all the time for work.  One of the main differences I noticed was that students in Private School were expected to BEHAVE POLITELY.  Sometimes I was shocked by the Public School students' disregard for their teachers.  Private Schools appear to have higher expectations of student outcomes (more homework, higher overall scores).  All this sounds great, doesn't it?  Well there are also some downsides.  One of the main ones was that many students in Private Schools are enrolled because their parents are often busy professionals who do not have time to supervise their children so it falls to school staff to set the limits.  Often these students have more disposable income and that can lead to a variety of problems.  One of my all time favourite elementary schools was a Catholic Private School, but I do not know how their scholastic accomplishments compared to other local schools.  The staff and students there were just wonderful.  It was one of the few places where students actually said "Thank You" when I gave them an immunization!
I would suggest all parents keep an open mind about where to send their children until they have a chance to get settled and go around to schools in their neighbourhoods.  Observe and interview, look online for information, then make a decision.  School starts in early September.  It is adviseable to register your child in the school of your choice as soon as possible.

We've also received our ppr last 30 may and submitted our pp on 3 June.. In the ppr it states that the embassy will do it's best efforts to return the pp w/ visa within 90 days. Does CEM really adhere to this timeline or most of the time it misses?
