Dear members...

I just wanna ask about the immigration system of US and canada...

What is the difference with the two countries considering immigration backlogs? As well as to those officers in-charge to our applications which thus reached VO...

In my expetience regarding US...i was denied two times for tourist and working visa with different time slot...reason: they have met their said quota for that day, other applicants were also denied bcoz d conzul wasnt in-d-mood to give his visa, even worst conzul saw your attire en noticed that it was just immitation giving u denied status without even raising any important questions

so, do you think canadian consuls here in our VO would do such? Reading from forums to forums i have noticed that even with passing points en authenticity of d documents they failed to satisfy the VO

any views?

izabelle07, there is a HUGE difference between the migration laws and process of US and Canada... the US has always adhered to their migration laws unlike canada who changes it's rules and processes without prior notice...

i have a priority date of june 2008 with the US INS and have been awaiting immigrant visa issuance since then... so far, they are processing applications forwarded on april 2005... so just imagine the backlog... come june this year, i would have been waiting for three years... and on top of that, come april of this year, they would have had a backlog of 6 years... it's like being an above 21, unmarried child, petitioned by an immigrant na... 7 years ang processing nila... so just imagine! what used to take 18mos has become this long due to the influx of applicants...

aside from the US having a yearly quota (for ALL IMMIGRANT VISAS issued) for each category (meaning if the quota is 50k IMMIGRANT VISAS for healthcare practitioners, included in the headcount is the family members, unlike with canada, the 1k limit applies only to APPLICANTS, their dependents not included)... dagdag mo pa dyan ang yearly quota per country... patong patong na quota na yan...

canada used to take 5 to 6 years to process... take virgiemaricel for example... she applied 2004 pa, and just got her PR visa this january... for most of us here in this forum, we applied no longer than a year or a year and a half ago... all these is possible because canada changed its migration laws last march 2008... and then it changed again just last june 2010... canadian immigration issued a commitment to process all applications submitted post march 2008 to process their applications within 1 year from submission to the CIO... and again, due to the massive applications, eto kami ngayon, tinamaan ng delay...

regarding the US denying you a tourist visa... there is an entire world of difference on requirements when it comes to applying for a tourist visa... everyone applying for a US tourist visa is considered to be a potential immigrant by the US embassy... that is their creed... so if you are single and is of age, there is a very slim chance you will be given a visa... it has nothing to do with what you do, the fact that you are single proves you have no clear ties here in the philippines for you to come home to... hence producing proof of funds (kung limpak limpak ang salapi mo here, why leave for good di ba?, plus it proves you can afford to travel) a lucrative job, hacienda etc. etc...

canada is your best option... i did not apply initially because i was not aware that they had changed their migration laws... i thought the old one was still in effect... buti i applied just before they changed their rules again...

o ayan, di na kita sisingilin sa consultation fee hahahaha! Grin Grin Grin

goodluck and i wish you well...

meganjms, kikinis tayo doon, walang pollution... pa rebond ka two days before the flight, para may panahon lumipad ang buhok mo pag hinangin... you are not supposed to wet your hair for two days after your rebond to give time for the DRUGS to work on your hair haha! Grin  ang gluta puputi ka nga, pati buhok mo damay, according to some of my friends who did it hahahaha!

yes, pa escoba na ang mga pang mais (teeth in english hahahha!) at mahalia mendez daw ang dental work doon... pati pustiso mag order na ng extra wahahaha!

canada5, welcome! that's good news for all of us!

balita naman dyan ha! thanks!

@ hellokitty_catnip: Welcome, we're posting on the same thread sa kabila.

To give us a picture of what's happening when the papers are processed, I'm re-posting one of the seniors' (Qorax) illustration on how it's done:

The Process in a Nutshell:

Stage-1: [CIO stage] Send Initial Apps+Processing Fees to CIO-NS > Qualitative Check > Issue of AOR+120 days Letter >

Stage-2: [CHC stage onwards] Send Full Docs+RPRF to the Local Visa Office > File on Queue > e-Cas: "Received by Visa Office" > Eligibility Check+PSDEC > Issue of 2nd AOR > Background Check > Issue of Additional docs Request [if any] > 1st BF'D > e-Cas: "In Process" > Send Addnl. Docs > Issue of Med Request > 2nd BF'D >

Stage-3: Meds Sent > e-Cas: "Medical Results Recd." > Issue of PPR* > Send Passport/s > Security Check > Visa/s Stamped > e-Cas: "Decision Made" >
*The Meds & PPR are sometimes 'clubbed' together.

Stage-4: Return of 'Stamped' Passport/s+COPR > Landing at the POE > e-Cas: "Completed".
