Hi guys, I just wanted to start a new thread specific to sponsoring parents. If any of our members can provide timelines of processing
sponsorship of their parents from the Philippines? I know there is a thread for family sponsorship, but upon reading it most of
the posters their are talking about spousal sponsorship. Thank you so much!

I agree. It is very hard to find Parents sponsorship case at this forum and also when you search for it, you cannot sort them by date.
However my parent's application is in Singapore. Do  you want to limit your thread to Manila office only?

The processing times are here:  Mississauga 43 months         http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/perm-fc.asp
Overseas Manila: 31 months for 80% of the applications: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/perm/fc-parents.asp

Thanks for the reply guys, but i'm limiting this thread to Manila Visa Office timelines only.

So does this mean that the Step 1 process takes 43 months and then you have to add
the number of months per country in the processing time? For example

Missisauga =  43 months
Manila = 31 months

= 74 months?

Yes, and it could be longer as those are historical figures and the Quota for parents was dropped for this year.

Yes Paul, it takes 74 months.  I'm in the process too of sponsoring my parents.  I submitted the papers in Mississauga on August 2007. received the sponsorship approval Jan 2011, so that's 41 months.  Sent the package to my parents in Manila and the wait begins again.  You also have to take into consideration the financial needs for sponsoring parents, there is a minimum salary required depending on how many people you are supporting right now.

Thank you lovely20! Gosh it really is a long process. I thought the wait time was going to be less. Thank you very much for the input. I hope the processing time
improves in the future..

z10052010,

Congratulations Smiley

How many people did you sponsor?
I think you only need to wait two weeks for visa depending on their location. It might be longer they have to send it in the province.

I hope ours will have update too Smiley
