I am just about done with the application, just the medical exam and we are ready to send it!  I just have a question and hoping to get some answer from someone who can help?! I am applying outbound but intend to wait it out in Canada since i have a TRV.  I made my mailing address and contact number in Canada, so if and when i get approved will they be corresponding with me through the mailing address I gave them, how do they normally correspond, through email or mail?  If I am asked to send my passport to the country where it is being processed, in my case the Philippines, will they send back my passport with the visa in Canada as well? If yes how do they normally send it? courier or regular mail?  Can i also land in canada via the US? thank you so much!

A few answers: As far as I know, they usually correspond by mail. I'm not sure about sending your passport to the Philippines, you might have to go there with it. Maybe someone else can help with that. I know I saw someone here discussing whether it was allowed to send a passport to some places without the holder of the passport.

You can always land via the US, but under new rules that took effect in 2008, you can also land at a CIC office without actually leaving Canada. You certainly don't need to return to the Philippines to "land."

Thank you so much for your help!  I will have to use a Philippines address for my mailing address then.

?? How will you be getting your mail?? If you are going to living here with a TRV, I would put your residential address in the Phillipines and your mailing address here.

I also think you should put your Canadian mailing address. There won't be a problem with them sending things to your address in Canada. My only concern was something about whether you'd be allowed to mail your passport TO the Phillipines.

Thank you guys for all the help!  I just found out that the embassy in the Philippines will mail it to the address that we will put on the self address envelope with the passport.  So i will have my mailing address in Canada and our residential address from the Philippines in our application.  Thanks for making it so much easier to fill out our application!
