Long term stay for dependent parent on Visiting / Temporary resident visa

Hi

I work in a good software company in India, and am planning to move to its Canada office on work visa.
I want to know how long my mother can stay with me in Canada on visitor / temporary resident visa. Does she need to leave Canada once every 6 months or something or can she stay with me for an year or 2 in a single stretch. I know USA has some such clause.

I am fine with going back to India and coming back in 15-20 days if she is allowed to come back to Canada as well.
My mother is 52 years old and is dependent on me, i dont want to leave her alone for even 1 day.
Please advise me.
