Since most of us are living away from our loved ones, I thought I would create a thread specifically to list all the long distance calling products and services.

I personally didn't know of a cheaper service before member "ONE 2 KA 4" recommended Ring123.com for Pakistan only 2cents/minute!

Please list what you are using right now, where do you call and how much are you paying by the minute or whatever the plan details are.

Let's share and help each other out in reducing our phone bills.  Wink

commwave telecom offer a good service.

You can use it as voip online. It's either $20 or $30 a year.  You get your own in Canada number and it doesn't matter where you are in the world.
Free unlimited to commwave to commwave and 3000 minutes free (Check website) to any other number in Canada.

So for example 1 person in pakistan 1 in Canada both on commwave calls = free unlimited for $20 or $30
Same goes for UK - Canada or any other country in the world.

For those in the UK and have a mobile with O2 then you need international favourites for £10 month
3000 minutes free to 3 international numbers of your choice. Mobiles in Canada are included. You can also chose an In canada number so your loved ones can call you as part of their plan.

I'm currently visiting my family in the US so right now my boyfriend and I are using good ol' Skype. We got a year's subscription to it for unlimited US and Canada calls, so I can call him over my parents' wifi and it's pretty much free minus the subscription cost. Plus we can use it as evidence for our application.

That's an expensive plan, you're paying double the regular rate these days which is around 8cents. For 23/month I would expect way more than that. Also Canada to US calling should be way cheaper than 5cents, heck I'm paying 2cents/min Canada to Pakistan. Check other services like Startec.

Hey guys any new services to look out for?

I am using RING123PINLESS.COM andI really liked it. It was recommended for me by our senior respected member WES786. Before I had Comwave and they ripe me off and my monthly bill was about $300 to Pakistan but than I found out about this from Wes. I saved more with ring123 because I talk to my wife 2 to 3 times a day. Its convince, reliable, no hidden fees, you can see your call history, minutes used, total balance remain and clear voice plus it has a redeemed points where you can get free minutes after spending some amount on it. All in all, its better than any other companies at the moment I believe.

The plan I use is; Freem plan 4900. They have different plans which you select the one want it.

Hi the calling services that worked best for me are (I am calling Central America)

Skype (good rates when purchasing skype credits. No contract)
Commwave (good rates, 99cent monthly fee but no contract)
Calling cards- "Turbo - Speedy connection" phone cards (has a picture of a Lamborghini on it) for a $2.50 card u can talk for 30min

Some of the Central American cell phone carriers offer free text messaging right off their sites to mobile phones (movistar, Claro and, Tigo)

Hi, my hubby bought me an IPOD touch for christmas and it has an app called 'Facetime'.  This is a brilliant way of keeping in contact, IPOD touch to IPOD touch.  So as long as you are in a WIFI area, you can use your IPOD to ring your family/friends and you get to see the other person!
Brilliant piece of technology!
