Just a question in anticipation of my, hopefully, eventual PPR:
Is it possible to drop off your passport in London in person and get it back the same day like you sometimes can in Buffalo?

No, you can only drop it off on Thursdays, and you can pick it up 2 weeks later.

is that a rule? other offices do it the same day. strange way of dealing with passports.

Yes that how London handles it, every office is slightly different.
