Dear Friends... Let me share with you my landing experience...
I left Dubai on 19th May morning through Emirates A 380 until Heathrow London. Food and services were excellent. Had a stop over of 3-4 hours at terminal 3. And the connecting flight from terminal 3 was AIR CANADA until Toronto. Services were nice too.
Landed at Pearson International around 09:00 pm local time. There was not much queue. First at the Passport control section, the officer checked our DECLARATION CARD (which was provided to us by AIR CANADA). And then he signed on it and instructed us to go on his right side to Immigration counter. There the lady was very kind. She asked for our CORP papers, passports and the declaration card. Asked few questions, like were we ever involved in any criminal activity or where denied entry by any country & how much money are we carrying. Then she asked for the local address , where she can send our PR cards.
With a smile , she said " CONGRATULATIONS, now you are the PERMANENT RESIDENT of Canada" and guided us the way to reach Customs officer. There was a very small queue. And i saw customs officers mostly opening the bags, checking all the stuff. So i had prepared my mind too for the same. So when it was our turn, i gave him the GOODS ACCOMPANIED AND FOLLOW LIST. He just went through the papers and asked whether are we carrying any food stuff with us.And did not bother to check the stuff inside our bags. He asked for our passports and CORPs, and at the end gave us one printed signed paper. And guided us the way to EXIT.
So hardly in 30-40 mints we were out from Airport, finishing all landing formalities. Took a cab until Studio 6 Mississauga, the fare was 38 CAD. And next day morning, took 19 A Bus , just next to the Hotel there was a bus stop, and got down at Dundas Street, fare per person was 3 CAD and be sure that you have the change. Got down on Dundas street and took 1 C bus until Dixie road where the SERVICE CANADA office is located. Please note one thing, the ticket which you will receive is valid for 2 hours, so i used the same the ticket when i boarded bus 1 C to Dixie road. So be sure to retain the ticket until the expiry time.
In 15 mints , the SIN card documentation was over. And hopefully, will go for a bank a/c later.
I will be here in Canada for a week time. So if you guys have any questions or suggestions, please do ask or share with me.

Well right now I don't have any idea , of the weight Allowance, As I had only two hand carry bags with me! But sure on the way back to Dubai, I will get the details. Regarding the 5 years kid , it will be treated as same adult weight allowance because You will be paying the same fare of an adult. The seat number will be allocated to you at the airport when you will check in. And same time you will be receiving the boarding pass! There will be an option of online check in , where you can decide your own seat according to your comfort. Same I did for Emirates, but for Air Canada I got the boarding pass at Heathrow Airport. Hearty Congrats for your safe landing.... Some questions please...
1. Did you carried CAD 2 coin with you for the trolly or you get the change from some coin vending machine in the airport?
2. I thought you are staying in "toronto furnished apartment". Hows "studio6"? Please PM me in detail. We also plan to stay there as per your suggestions..
3. For SIN Regn. any application form required? or simply we have to walk in any of the Service Centre along with our COPR and Passports... Whether photographs required?
4. One more question regarding SIN Regn... SIN regn is only for adults no??? or it is required for kids as well??
5. Hows the climate in Toronto now?

Dear Satish Bhai, yes I had plan to stay at Toronto downtown apparments, but in the last moment I had received an email from them that there is some water leakage problem in the flat. So they refunded back my deposit. Studio 6 is a great place to stay, 495 CAD weekly, bus stop just along the hotel, it's like a studio flat, attach kitchen with some utensils, free wifi! And there is a coin laundry room too. But for grocery shopping , u will have to catch a bus and go to the downtown. Bus frequency is good , per person 3 CAD. I didnt carry any 2 dollar coin and am not sure about the coin machine at the airport as I myself didn't inquired or saw any. I had only two handcarry bags with me. So better to look for a 2 dollar coin with any exchange center in Bahrain! For SIN registration , they is no pre application form or photo required . At the same time , the officer will ask u some personal questions ( mother name , mother last name before marriage, father name and last name, place and date of birth and the last how u want ur name printed to be on the SIN card. Carry along with u ur Pps and landing papers, regarding children SIN, I don't have any idea, as we are still couple. Better to go along with ur kids, so that if they issue SIN for Kids then same time the work will get done for every one . The climate right now is autumn here. Very pleasant, well I am myself wearing sweeter all the time! If u still have any questions dear, do ask me! Cheers... |

Congratulations SATDXB for your Safe landing. I hope you have a safe return flight as well. thanks a lot for sharing your experience. i have few questions, please...
- based on your experience, that is the minimum time you can stay in Canada and finish all formalities?? would it be possible to stay for one week only. is it suffecient?
- how friendly do you see that place?
- what is your advice for anyone who is planning to land in Toronto?
- have you got any idea about the job market there?
