Depends what part of canada you are coming to, all areas are different. Currently calgary has an LMO processing time of 14 weeks and 2-3 weeks for work permit.

It's not 2 to 3 weeks for a work permit when you are applying overseas.  Jamaica processing is a minimum of 8 weeks.

It's minimum time.  If you require a medical, it will be more.  And no one can answer for sure how long it will take you.  Only the visa officer assessing your file could give you definite information.  I doubt they are posting here.

Hi there

Im new here and i just want to ask about my situation, I got denied for an extention for work permit because i didnt sent a copy of my new passport (only sent receipt from the philippine consulate of my passport renewal) so now I have an expired work permit (Dec 6, 2011 same expiration of my passport) I applied for restoration of status Jan 18, 2012 online and got an email that i need to submit my contract i did submit it again online and now asking me of new one as it is a year old (was a 2year contract) There was no problem with them giving me new contract but I am wondering if i need a new LMO for it (they didnt ask me to upload LMO tho) Im reading about LMO and TWP and now it confuses me. Im worried they will again refuse my application.

Hope to get information here Thanks

Thanks for the reply y'all it really helped Cry. Now my lmo application was sent in on January (1st week) and it is now April.

Does anyone think it will be anytime soon to hear from them? This is just getting to me right now, i think i'm just gonna forget about this thing.

So sad right now and tired of waiting and then i still have a 8 weeks to wait for a work permit. KMT!

Hi Islandqueen
I'm also from JA too, but I got my LMO in 3 weeks. I think the processing of the LMO's have something to do with NOC levels, whats your noc? (just my 2 cents, don't know for sure).......I will apply for my work permit soon....Just some encouragement!....Ask your employers to call Service Canada for updates on the application....I read in other forums that this helps.....And don't give up, pray and ask God to help the process along!.....Bless up!....Good LUCK

To Islandqueen,

What is your work & where in Canada will you work? Is your work under Skilled? I submitted my application this month in Kingston, Jamaica under Semi-Skilled TFW. Did the VO inform you any news from your application or status update? You can follow-up, call them coz it's been 16weeks now. I'm also curious how long they're gonna approve your TWP application as far as I know it's 8wks base on their website but my friend told me it took her 1month to get an approval (way back 2010) under semi-skilled work.

Thanks Buleg

I will be working in Alberta and i will be working as a waitress. I called the Agency a couple of times they said i still have to wait a couple of weeks, that was like the first week of April.

I'm not sure what is happening at all.

Islandqueen,

Did you receive your AOR & MR? If so, when did they receive your medical result? Medical result actually makes an application to process longer. Can you please post your timeline? Thanks! Hopefully everything goes well in our applications
