Hey folks,

First off, you guys are doing an awesome job by helping, sharing your views with people whom you've never even met. #HumanityFirst

Here's my scenario, any help appreciated.

Jan 2010 - Landed in Toronto on student visa under SPP (student partner's program)
Dec 2010 - Finished studying, completed Marketing Management post grad from a well known college
Jan 2011 - Secured 1 year open work permit (under SPP, upon completion of a post grad study, a student automatically stands eligible for WP for same period of time as his course, in my case 1 year of study = 1 year of work permit)
Jan 2011 - Found employment in an E-commerce company
Jan 27, 2012 - Employer would file for LMO (he's on vacation until then). Job position - Marketing Analyst, above average wage
March 15, 2012 - Work visa expires  Shocked
*Currently* - Panicking  Sad

My concerns - Will I make it until the deadline? Am I good on time? Can I buy time with regards implied status? Tens of thousands of other concerns! I love this country but I hate the way how they work in a laid back environment.

Like always, I'll stay positive  Smiley

Dear bepositive,

Your employer need to apply for LMO as soon as possible and when it is in process you may submit the work permit application only within 2 weeks of the expiry date of your status (for your case in second week of March) and include proof that the LMO request was made. As a proof you must include a copy of the application sent to Human Resources and Skills Development Canada or include a copy of the receipt confirmation number, if the request was done online. Whenever you received your positive LMO you must contact our Call Centre with the LMO confirmation number to update your application. I think you have enough time don't worry  Smiley (but your employer need to apply for LMO as soon as possible in January)

Hi everyone,
Thanks for the great insight of the LMO processing time.

I was worried that there is sth wrong with my process cause me and my employer were told that it only takes 4-6 weeks, but reading all the comments has calmed my spirits! Our LMO application was received Nov 13th and we still haven't got an answer. And I am actually supposed to start my job Feb 15th!

My employer called up the hrsdc last week again and a woman explained to him that although she does see it that it's in process does not mean that it isn't being looked at. There are several officers/departments that review different sections and she said that portions of it may be under review and that she wouldn't see that in her system.  If that's the case the when we do get the phone call she would assume that the processing would be quick given that we are not missing any info.

I am still not quite sure what exactly that means but I hope that it's a positive development.

If anyone got some news about which week they are processing, let me know pls!

Man HRSDC is Headache City for me.

My first LMO got denied (after 14 weeks) because my employer didn't fully meet the advertising requirement.
I had to cancel my application for my TWP and reapply as late as possible (December 29th) so my employer could advertise and re-apply for an LMO.
They send it in before the end of the year and now we wait.

I heard CIC only gives you 2 months to get the LMO, don't they realize it currently takes so long?
Why don't these two communicate?

I'm currently waiting for PR but i'll need to work in order to maintain my house/upcoming wedding and life over here.

If i get denied again, i really have no idea what to do, since it would be a HUGE burden on my family

Le sigh

Any idea on the processing times for a Faxed/Same employer/LMO application

Thank you sir!
It was sent to HRSDC on the same day i re-applied for my TWP online (December 29th) but as of January 13th, they haven't even seen the package yet, so i don't have a #number yet.

After they posted my job, they had 8 reactions but none of the applicants had the right resumes.
I jus thope they are not going to look TOO deep into it, since it would cost my employer a full year to train a new employee to do what i already do.

How can the lawyer apply for LMO on your behalf? He must have applied on employer's behalf. Your employer should have received a file # and with the help of that your employer can inquire about the process. Again, CIC would only answer to your employer not you. Long story short, ask you employer to check with CIC.

Good luck, stay positive

Hey,

What kind of info did your employer miss out while placing an ad? Just curious to know as my employer is placing an ad tomorrow and I want to make sure that I cover everything and not miss out silly points. I'd appreciate your help

That is the key.positivity!it is the mother of posibility.just like your locality does not determine your prosperity but your mentality does.in the same vein,it is the level of your positivity that determine the degree of possibilities you will enjoy in life.to a positive man, just anything is possible.even the seemingly impossible turns around when confronted with a positive mental and physical attitude.dont just stay positve rather develop to become a positive person.the former is an event, the latter is a person.then you can expect a revival in your life in no time.
