Hi Guys, I am in Toronto now. I got my work permit for a period of 2 years, so really pleased about that. I started my job this week and all is going well. Good luck to everybody still waiting for their LMO.

Dear terry2011, I'll be appreciated if you answer: When you sent your Work Permit application to CIC? and when your employer sent to HRSDC?

Hi, that means your work permit was denied before the 60 days (waiting time for LMO file nr)?

Thank you terry2011, so CIC held your work permit application for 2 months. I hope LMO guys approve my application within 3 months because I sent my work permit application exactly 1 month after LMO application. In this case I can get my work permit also.

Ok I have seen similar comments already and I wonder if I can apply for work permit while waiting for a positive LMO as long as I have got my LMO file number? And if that's the case is this possible for all CIC offices (even the ones outside Canada), cause I'll apply through the Canadian Embassy in Paris. It'd be great if someone could answer to this question, cause if it's the truth I'll can speed up my process! What is meant by "holding your apps"? Will they already start processing it and send you infos about what's missing and the medical exam if you need one, or just keep the documents without working on them? Thanks

Thanks I think it is different case by case. When your LMO is in process, you may submit the work permit application to Vegreville only within 2 weeks of the expiry date of your status and attach a proof that the LMO request was made. As a proof you must include a copy of the application sent to Human Resources and Skills Development Canada or include a copy of the receipt confirmation number, if the request was done online. Whenever you received your positive LMO you must contact our Call Centre with the LMO confirmation number to update your application. These are useful just for the applicants who apply from Canada. It's better to call them or email them and ask.

Thanks for your response Iva, I called up the Canadian Consulate in France and they said that it's unfortunately not possible. Oh well let's hope SC is working a bit faster on the apps this week.
