That's GREAT news, alicia!!!!  Congrats!!  The waiting would be so much easier if we knew the outcome would be positive.  Smiley  Hoping the 2nd time around works for us.

I'm not sure what expiry date you are referring to. My LMO opinion expiry date is 2012-09-28 which means I need to apply my work permit before the date otherwise this opinion will be expired. My job offer is permanent so I'm not sure how long CIC will issue my work permit for.

I want to ask about the process of LMO and work permit in behalf of my friend. My friend is a Filipino currently in UK. He applied for a job through an agency in Canada and the agency told him that his employer (nursing home) was able to obtain an LMO for him. The agency told him that his employer will be the one to process his working permit in Canada and he will just wait for his interview or medical exam notice in UK. I tried reading the process for applying for a working permit in the CIC website and from this forum and his case seems different. I'm worried if the agency is not really transparent how is the application is going on since my friend has already paid the agency fee. I hope somebody could give light to this. Thanks

1. satisfy advertisement requirement (minimum 14 days)
2. obtain lmo ( varies, 4 to 8 weeks)
3. apply work permit ( point of entry or consulate)

I received my POSITIVE LMO April 11!!  Smiley

We first submitted in the middle of November and 14 weeks later found out it was denied because there was a mistake on the application.  The employer advertised again and then resubmitted the application.  A cover letter was included indicating the issue had been resolved and asked for reconsideration.  It took 2.5 weeks the second time!  Smiley

Best wishes to everyone!

Hi can anybody share where they got their LMO? My fiance just got let go from his work of 5 years. And he badly needs to have a new LMO. or else I don't know what will happen to him.  What would happen to him anyway? will he be send home right away or will he be given certain amount of time to look for another job who offers LMO?
