Hello everyone,

I live in Toronto, I'm here on a work visa and I recently received my passport with the permanent visa. I'd like to land as soon as possible, but I don't have a US visa (I also don't intend to fly to any other country as of now). My question is:

Is it possible to go to the border and not cross it, make some sort of U turn, and come back to Canada and to all the required things to land?
Has anyone ever done/heard this kind of thing?

I'm asking this coz I don't want to go to the US anytime soon, unless I really, really, really have to. This would save me a lot of time so I'd be able to officially land in a couple of weeks.

Any help is highly appreciated

Yes its is possible to enter Canada by taking a u-turn. You don't need to go to USA for that. check the following links :

Call the CIC call centre and ask to arrange a landing appointment.
It can be at your nearest inland CIC office.

Hi,

I called the CIC for info on this and they sent me an e-mail with the procedures. The thing I want to do is called Flag Pole Procedure and it's known by the US officers so I believe I won't have any problems. If you intend to do this, you should call them and ask about it. That's really good.. I just won't do it this weeked coz apparently it's gonna snow.. my buddy and I will drive there one of the weekends in February.

I'll post my experiences here once I'm done with it.

take care
