I'm aware from reading the CIC immigration site that people qualified under the Live-in Caregiver program can qualify to apply for PR with Experience Class after two years.

I can't find information on a Live-out Nanny, which is esstenially the same job, but living outside the home.

I don't think I can qualify for Caregiver program as my most recent caregiver jobs weren't "official" jobs. The best I can say is a friend let me babysit her daughter for a few hours a week. I have loads of unpaid childcare experience, including volunteer work with kids.

Any information is appreciated. I'm desperately searching for a way to remain in Canada and not return to a terrible situation back in the US.

No - you don't qualify to apply for PR through the Caregiver Program. To qualify, you must have been a live-in paid caregiver.

To qualify for Canadian Experience Class, you must meet the following requirements:

be either:

- a temporary foreign worker with at least two years of full-time (or equivalent) skilled work experience in Canada, or

- a foreign graduate from a Canadian post-secondary institution with at least one year of full-time (or equivalent) skilled work experience in Canada
