To Whom It may Concern: I am inquiring as to why your information located at www.gc.ca/english/information/times/perm-other.asp for a live in caregiver class, applying for permanent residence, would suddenly change and add on 10 extra months waiting time? I am speaking on behalf of xxxxxxxxx, residing in xxxxxxxxxxxx. She applied for permanent residence on August, 2010 and has waited for 18 months and 11 days. When she went to check her status on Monday, it had jumped from 18 months wait to 28 months now, and she thought it was a typing error, and contacted me to help. When she applied to the Canadian government for this live-in caregiver position, she was told a completely different agreement, compared to what actually did happen to her. She had completed her live in caregiver contract/agreement of 2 years and was told she would get her open work permit  6 months later. That turned out to be 16 months later and after inquiries went out, suddenly received her permit in December, 2011. She has watched and waited patiently for 18 months now, for her AIP permanent residence, as well, and to suddenly add on almost another year is unacceptable, in my opinion. Can someone here justify why this has happened? I'm beginning to wonder if Canada lures these hopeful souls over here, to fill in the labour shortage with cheap labour and false promises and have these people end up paying taxes, to help fill the everincreasing void. How can this woman still be waiting in the system, starting into her 5th year, with no end in sight? How did this government expect her to take care of herself financially, with taking so long to even issue an open work permit....would you have preferred yet another person on the welfare system or applying for refugee status, just to eat? This is an overqualified woman (xxxxxxxxxx that practiced in xxxxxxxxxxxx), who gave up everything there, to try and better her family and move them to a country of promise and future. She's desperately wanting to work at anything now, contribute to society and eventually sponsor her husband and son to join her. I have helped find her employment with the Government of Alberta, commencing March xxxxxxxx, as a permanent xxxxxxxx. Don't you think the Canadian Federal government should step up and do their part now and fulfil their agreements with her too? Please respond in writing to email:  xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx,  xxxxxxxxxxxx. Jason Kenney's department never did respond.

Will wait for answer
Kalinka, I am admire of you!

Have anybody tried writing an email to the Canadian Embassy Manila, with regards to there dependents?I tried the case specific, email and I am not sure they do respond.  Has anybody tried it before? Just wondering, coz i really need to check what's going already coz I phoned the CIC and the agent said the my application is still in Manila for processing; so just thinking how long before it comes back to Canada coz there has been no feedback to my husband's application and it will be 12 months already by March 5.  Thanks

I got an answer from MP Edmonton
But it is nothing (((((((((((((((((((((((

Thank you for the emails to  your inquiries regarding Ms. xxxxxxxxxxx immigration file.

I can let you know that as of yesterday the time line for line in caregiver dropped from 28 months back to 18 months http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/perm-other.asp The reason behind the longer time line pervious was due to the fact that Immigration is aware of the time length for Live in Caregivers (stage 1 - 17 months & stage 2 - 17 months) and therefore was issuing open work permits initially, rather than waiting till stage 1 is completed to issue work permits. That placed majority of the application on hold of their processing to play "catch up"

I hope that answers some of your questions.

I didn't submit the document checklist only the form IMM1249 because all the documents listed on it are all included in the PR document checklist form.

Are they trying to suggest that the processing time has become so long because they were issuing OWP................what a load of crap! They know that that isnt the real reason. Why cant they just be  honest about what is going on

Hi Smiley again,
So I wonder how it works , Huh
Im in Ontario and I want to move to BC. With my Bf. this May . I will send my OPW/PR. Application next week .
My current work permit with this Employer expires in 2014
  1. Can I quit and move with him in May ?
  2. I will be unemployed and wait for OPW but won't apply for EI coz I quit they didn't fire me. Will my status be OKAY?
  3. My friend scared me that OPW some of them says can work only one province and just some jobs Sad
  4. Will it effect my application for PR. That I move to BC. ? Since I sent my application in ON. ?
  5. What my current employer should write on the letter for me that I have been working with them and still working .?
  6. How is life is BC.? Taxes etc. In ON you don't have to pay anything for health card.
Thank you very much for all you help?

1. Yes, note the stipulations on your contract as to giving notice.
2. Yes, till the expiration of your WP.
3. I am not aware that the OWP has that condition considering you can work for any employer, any type of job, so why will you not be allowed to work in another province. Maybe those who have OWPs can comment.
4. No, but update CIC of your contact details in case they communicate with you.
5. You pay for your MSP or your employer can shoulder it for you.

Dear Job_seeker
Thank you very much for your help! You should be working as an live - in cargiver advisor (social worker!). Smiley
It helps me a lot!!! I also called immigration..
He said I can move no problem , if I want to just be unemployed and not working I can do that and just wait for OPen work permit my status is IMPLIED status And I asked if it take too long I wanna work again I can just apply from there with new LMO for live in caregiver again, Open work permit allowed
Me to work anywhere anything more than one employer in Canada , Health card and SIN has to contact the province and service Canada , it
won't effect my PR application even tho I moved to another province. CLEAR !!! Smiley
What a relief ! He said tell your friend She is wrong about working oh one province on OPW !! Lol ...she got her opw in 3 weeks and it said open everywhere but she scared me!!
