Yes you can renew your SIN card even without employer, I just did mine yesterday. Just bring your OLD WORKING PERMIT, PASSPORT AND YOUR OPEN WORKING PERMIT to the Service Canada Office and they will give you the Temporary Copy of Your SIN Number and wait for the CARD in the mail.

I will do that tomorrow

Yes we should!!! Because today I got my OWP too!!!:))). Probably, I am not going to change my emploer for a while, but still I have a sharp feeling of freedom.

I noticed there are four types of OWP until now. I only know the first remarks which is the best one,  how about  the second one , third one  and last one. What is different

Temporary resident status maintained as per r183
Application for permanent resident status has received
Initial approval

Temporary resident status maintained as per R183 (6)
pending LIC APR.

The remark says temporary resident status restored as per R182.MZL  Pending LIC APR

Yea, you are right. Here are different kinds of remarks.
My remark is: PENDING LIC APR- TXN/E.

finally, after waiting for Mr. Postman to deliver my Mails! I got my OWP just few hours ago.
valid until: 16 June 2014
with Remarks: 
Temporary Resident Status maintained as per R183(6)
Document Issued to passport expiry. Must renew passport for extensions.
Pending LIC APR..KZD/D*

I am very happy for you guys.
And I hope who didn't receive yet OPW you will have it very soon, if even CIC will have Christmas vacation, after that CIC will start work for applicants, who didn't receive OWP, and only then - next step for AIP for all of us

Since there has been a new change to the LCP PR applicants, the whole processing time has begin slow. Since the new applicants from April won't be under going second medical, I thought the processing would be faster but unfortunately it has become slower . Processing time today 16 Aug 10 has move from 7-8 mths to 8-9 mths !!!! It took me 3mths plus to be able to log in into ecas  .Anyways let come together and share our timelines.

My friend is going home this Christmas and she just recieved her owp as well and she don't have TRV too, she told me that she will going to get in The Philippines, its only take 10 days their. I will let you know the rest of the imformation once she get back here. She'll be going home Dec.25,2011 and Come back Jan.30, 2012, Im sure you can go home by that time even you dont have TRV. I will give you the info once she got hers.

You have to fill out the application  for trv online, validate it and print it. Also your original work permit, bank draft( payable to canadian embassy manila), family information( it'll pop up when you validate your application online) original passport and 2 pcs of ID pic ( specification found online). You can choose to drop it in canadian bassy which processing takes 10 business days or you can choose to have it picked up bu a courier from your house

I called candian embassy manila for the above info.. I am going home on january too that's why i gathered all that info ASAP

Got my OWP!!! Praise the Lord  Can i renew my SIN even if its not expired yet? And also, if i renewed it in Ontario can i use it in Manitoba or do i need to renew it in Manitoba when i move there? ThAnks!!

 @  berry and roxida. When your back in the Philippines I think as wp holder you still have to go to poea to get something like balik mangagawa for ofw. It cost around 1000+ pesos. You cannot enter airport if you dont have that. Pls check it out too.

Hi. Correct me if I'm wrong guys.
When u intend to go home to the Philippines, make it sure that you go to a nearest Philippine diplomatic post (embassy/consulate) and get an OEC (Overseas Employment Certificate)... with that, they will (Labour Attache) will put a stamp on your passport, and you will not pay anything, just a donation I think...Having an OEC, you can enjoy ur vacation back home in the Philippines without minding to go to POEA and pay. You are also exempt on the taxes levied from the airport prior to departing.
