We're on the same boat crying mom. I am a November 2010 applicant and everytime I call CIC they have nothing to tell me except that they received my application Nov.26,2010...timelime is 18 months and I might get my OWP in June 2012. I can't open my file on eCAS. So i know how you feel. Let's just keep the faith and hope for the best.

Same here dec 2010 applicant and my work permit will expire on dec 28, 2011  Hi Christine Hope you are doing well. I suggest you contact MP in your area. I didnt even have to drop by at the office. With phone and email i could give them me and my kids information. They just need your client ID number to get MIL(?)from CIC. Your WP is just about to expire so CIC will issue your OWP for sure. |

Here is the remark in my owp:
Temporary resident status maintained as per r183
Application for permanent resident status has received
Initial approval swh/c
It doesn't say "lic pending" anywhere...
thanks berry11 i hope that its the one on my owp not"pending LIC application" anyway the cic agent guarantees me that i pass 1st stage approval with my owp so ill just wait until it comes,is your family here or backhome?are you a filipino? |

My take on this new initiative is that the 2011 applicants are getting OWP because it will be taking a hell of a long time to get PR. I cant see how this isnt a strategic move that is carefully calculated. Maybe am not open minded but there must be something behind this move. All will become clear in time.

To those trying to renew Drivers licence in Edmonton and being on implied status. My husband managed to renew it in AMA. He provided his Client ID number, they opened his ecas (with his permission) and printed it out. It showed that he ligally stayed in Canada, was on implied status and apllied for PR in 2010 and his papers are in process.Though membershop in AMA cost us 80$ but they're really willing to help there and did their best. All the other registries didn't even want to understand the situation.
