I am 18 years old and will have been 19 years old when I finish my 6-month caregiver program here in Manila, Philippines. What age does the POEA allow caregivers to work in Canada? Some say it's by the age of 20, some say 19, some even say 23. i'm afraid i will have to have another 6 months training for the certificate expires in 5 years time. Please somebody answer me. And how long is it to process the papers. I badly need to know. I'm going to work  @  my Aunt's house in Canada. thanks   Undecided

Maybe there's a shortage of staff in vegreville that's why they transferred your files to local CIC office.try to contact your MP and ask for help.

there is no question bout the age here, but in the Philippines they won't let the person go out the country to work outside  below 23 yrs. of age. unlike before once your 18 yrs. old you can work outside our country but not anymore. you must be 23 yrs.old.

oh really i didnt know that...only in the Philippines!
I think because maybe young applicants goes to abroad are more prone to abuse thats why they change the Law.

oh my.. Sad so apparently, i'm wasting money on this caregiver program? my aunt needs me badly asap. do u know any other way on how do i go to Canada in a year? What if i work in Asian countries? Do I still need to be aging 23? What do i do now.. Do u not recommend me to continue this caregiver program? Like coz i said it'd be put to waste ( not the knowledge of First Aid or the likes, but the spending that guarantees a NO to approval until I age 23)..

Finish your 6 months caregiver course. Then apply student permit then you can change to student to work pemit. By then you are qualified to apply LCP, because if your dont have the certificate even if your here in canada you will not approved LCP.

 @  aenil
same senario with my application.. try to contact ur MP and ask for assistance. i did that and they did follow up to the Local CIC here in Vancouver, and there's no problem on it. it is just that maybe they have shortage employee in vergreville thats why they send it to the local CIC and upon transferring to the local cic It will be at least six to seven months before the file is assigned to an officer, at which point the applicant will be contacted directly if further information is required to make a decision.
