Hi all!!

Im a latin live in caregiver and I have been reading some of the post, so created this topic for share "tips"and experiences that may help others live in caregiver when they are recollecting the documents for the PR, and what happend after it (time's process, interviews, phone calls from office immigration, also negative answers... etc)

I want share this information it may help:

- When u send ur application for PR REMEMBER send at the same time your application for an open work permit.
- If you just finish ur 24 months, you can not work "live OUT" until u get u OWP
- If you wish to work for a different employer after apply for u PR you can but REMEMBER you have to apply for a new  work permit again with the  new employer even if u're waiting for ur OWP

file for PR Sent on June 21st/2010
Received  On june 23th/2010
still waiting...

Good luck to every one

hi Canela,
How bout if u lost job while waiting for the OWP and PR   what will happen to the application i passed?I can look  for a  new employer but the problem is it takes 7-8 months to get LMO to a new contract..Do you have any Idea if being unemployed can jeopardize the application for OWP and PR?thanks a lot Kiss

Getting a new employer would be to the tougher part because you're almost done with the LCP part. But if and when you do find an employer, it would take about three months to be able to obtain the WP (still closed WP, can only work for the employer on the WP) - 2 weeks for the advertisements (although, in order for you to find them they should already have advertised), 3-4 weeks for the LMO application and 4 weeks for your WP, new employer.

Hi,

Was reading the OP for Live in Caregivers and I did not see anything that mentioned being still employed. Used to understand that "they possess a valid work permit to work as a live-in caregiver;"  (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/manuals/ip/ip04-eng.pdf p12) means being still employed as a live in caregiver, but now you possess a WP (still valid right, meaning not expired) but you won't be employed by then but you still qualify as per their "definition" of being under the live in caregiver class. You may be okay till you receive the OWP but progressing to PR you must be able to show proof that you can support yourself/family.

Hello Canela

I noticed that we have almost the same same timeline, I also sent my PR/OWP application around June of 2010, and CIC received it June 16. I am single with one dependent. I don't know if you have any dependent but if you do, have they received their LC2 yet?

I submitted July 2010 until now still waiting for OWP. What has gone wrong? Some who applied four months ago already got their OWP and waiting for their PR interview. Any advice please
