listing income on the Sponsorship Evaluation IMM 5481

When applying to sponsor from outside Canada, question 2 of the Sponsorship Evaluation seems pointless.  The sponsor will be leaving this job when the spouse's residency visa is granted because they are both moving to Canada.  So for question 3, "net personal income", do they really want the net income from a job she is quitting?

I'm still confused about whether my spouse/sponsor needs to fill out this form.   There are too many clauses in that introductory section.... If sponsoring a spouse?  or only a spouse who has dependent children who have dependent children of their own?  or does that dependent children section only apply to conjugal partners??

can someone just tell me whether we need 5481 vs. 1283:

Jane -- the Sponsor, citizen of Canada.
Dick -- the spouse being sponsored, citizen of USA.
child 1 -- citizen of Canada, parents are Dick & Jane.
child 2 -- citizen of Canada, parents are Dick & Jane.


And again, why would CIC care about income if the sponsor is not a resident of Canada?
