Hi there,
I am new in this forum and i do not really know how it works.
I want to raise some questions before i start my application procedure.

I am a food chemist and i have worked as lecturer in University  for 6 years. not from one year i have a new position as a national coordinator of Official Control food Laboratories near the National Food Authority in Albania.

Yesterday i entered on the CIC webside and i was surprised when i didn't find my profession listed on the occupation list. the only Natural and applied sciences and related occupations eligible is Biologist and related scientists. my question is:  will i be classified eligible as a food chemist??

I already have taken the IELTS exam general version. 6.5 overall band.

can somebody explain somehow my situation?

thanks in advance

Anila

I don't know much about your field...

Did you try to check at HRSDC's page?
For the NOC 2121 that is what it says  http://www5.hrsdc.gc.ca/noc/english/noc/2006/QuickSearch.aspx?val65=2121

take a good look and see if your job description/duties etc. match to what Canada wants.

thanks for the advice

I did check this link, and when you roll down to all the titles i can find somehow some connection like:
# food research scientist
# food scientist

Since i have been working in University, i have been part of research, and i am doing now my PhD which is a research, i have also a Master in Science in Food Quality management.  but i am not so clear when it comes to fill the application form, there is a section where you have to choose 1 - 2 occupations (i have two important positions One as academic staff in University and the second in food safety -  Official Control food Laboratories in Albania. Do i have to code them according tho the NOC coding ??

Thanks again

Yes, you should code them according to the NOC coding.

It would also help if your description of your job experience was easily seen to fall into the correct category.

From reading the list of occupations and titles covered under 2121 I think you will be fine!

Just remember to add language similar to NOC #2121 viz:

Quote
Plan and conduct studies of the environment, and of the population, distribution, structure and functional characteristics and behaviour of plants and animals
Conduct ecological and environmental impact studies and prepare reports
Study, identify and classify plant and animal specimens
Conduct experiments in plant or animal growth, heredity and breeding
Prepare reports and plans for management of renewable resources
May supervise biological technologists and technicians and other scientists.
