At least get reference letters that cover the last 4 years (the maximun points) to be granted  the points for them.

I am sure that the old once are not formated and elaborated as CIC asks for, i mean the duties, working hours, salary,....etc. Therefore, if you are able to get new references containing the details exactly as CIC requires, go for it and get the new once, if not, the old once are fine.

Please read EG7. What needs to be mentioned in the employer's reference letter is clearly given in EG7.

In case if you are not aware of EG7, please download the document from the link in my signature below.

At least get reference letters that cover the last 4 years (the maximun points) to be granted  the points for them.

Does this mean that he doesn't have to present Reference Letters for all companies he was employed with in the past 7 years?  Why only 4 years? Please clarify, I'd really appreciate it.

Can you kindly provide the link in the CIC website that says this? Thanks!

If he is sure that the experience letters are completed as the CIC want exactly, he doesn't need to show more than 4 years experience documents, the points are only for 4 years, people try to show more, just incase there is any lack of details in the refference letters or lack of information abut the company,or they have a non-continuous work experience so they do that just to be in the safe side.

So you're saying that an applicant need only to submit reference letters that support the NOC they declared in the application?  Then what about other previous work/job that are not related to the NOC, are these not required to have letters of reference / certificates of employment as well?

Here is what the instructions state"

"7. WORK EXPERIENCE
For you and your spouse or common-law partner:
• notarized employment contracts from your present and past employers,
accompanied by an English or French translation
• original and up-to-date letters of reference from your past and current employers.
Letters must be written on company letterhead and show the company's full
address, telephone and fax numbers, and be stamped with the company's official
seal.
Letters must include all of the following information:
• the specific period of your employment with the company
• the positions you have held during the period of employment and the time spent
in each position
• your main responsibilities and duties in each position
• your total annual salary plus benefits
• the signature of your immediate supervisor or the personnel officer of the
company
• a business card of the person signing"

Yes I am aware of it... thanks PMM, I was just wondering where professional1 got the idea of sending reference letters for only 4 years. Maybe he used this procedure and was approved?

Can someone please advice whether i need to get Reference Letters from all org i have worked with in past 7 years? Would a single letter from current employer / HR / Colleague accepted?
Please confirm
