I would definitely consider Vancouver if my application is successful, just for the beautiful nature alone and proximity to the West Coast of the USA

I used lo live in Vancouver for more than 4.years.Last september my family and myselef are moved to Ontario in Toronto for many reasons:

1.Vancouver is the most expensive city in Canada.Everything is more expensive than in other parts of Canada:housing,food,gas.....everything!

2.In BC everybody pay 114$ per month for Medical cards (for all family). In all other provinces this is free.In Ontario OHIP card is free, you dont need to pay.

3.In BC there is only one insurence company for car insIurance-ICBC.They are very expensive. They are asking for approximately 400-500$ per month for new drivers-for all immigrants around the world. In Ontario there are thousands of companies for that. You can easy find good deal for yourself-about 100-150$ per month.

4.Half of Vancouver are Chinese people. You have filling that you are in China, not in Canada.

5.Vancouver have rainy wheather more than 9.months in year. This is very frustrating.People are very deppresed and there are so many suicides every year.

6.In Vancouver there are much more Starbucks than Tim Hortons  Cool

Thanks for sharing this Smiley

We are evaluating to land in Vancouver ..

Thanks,

Indira Prabhakaran.

Housing price in Vancouver is terrible! Just cannot afford it!
BTW, I think that we should integrate into Canada rather than separate as "another isolated culture living in Canada". Personally, I would rather stay "away" from Chinese population despite I'm Chinese (Hong Kong) so that we could learn from each other, exchange language and share our experiences!  Grin

In terms of housing prices, Vancouver is more affordable than Hong Kong.

Absolutely agree!
For similar size, standard of apartment, I can only buy a small toilet in Hong KOng whereas in Canada, I still able to get a small apartment with similar amount of money.

My point of entry will to be Vancouver as I have my brother and his family already there living...it true that it is really expensive there...but once settled...gained experience...i might as well tranfer to other province depending on what is at hand...in anycase...wheather is one good thing about Vancouver which i think should be opne big consideration especially if you are coming from a hot and humid coutry like mine...the Philippines.
