Hi pals,
I have a cgpa 2.78 from a good uni of bd in business administration. I got 6.5 in IELTS and 315 in GRE. I have few questions. I want to do my masters in International Busioness.
1. My agent told he can get me admitted in Concordia university or gergian college. So what is quality of this institutions? Are they good enough?
2. My plan is I will give my first semesters fees by my owa. But for second semester I will earn it along with my living cost. Is it possible to get work and earn in canada now a days?
3. Do I need to apply for work permit or I will get it eventually? Can I get a work within 1 month after reaching Canada?
4. My plan is after I complete my masters or after reaching canada I will apply for PR as soon as possible?

So please feel free to share your experiences. I really need those. Thanks.  Smiley

Hi,

1. Forget about your agent's offer for Concordia University. Don't trust his words on Concordia.
2. Absolutely No.
3. No work permit after 1 month. To get an Off-campus work permit, you must complete 6 months of studies from a recognized school.
4. Absolutely NOT as soon as possible. You can apply once you graduate + a permanent full time job offer with a valid PGWP + 6 months of work experience (under PNP) OR 1 year of work experience (under CEC).

People who work illegally typically get paid less than minimum wage. This means it's pretty much impossible to earn enough money to cover fees and living expenses.

Hi,

1. Agreed. It's NOT possible to cover tuition + living expenses. In the end, it would be your choice if you want to earn few hundred $ OR focus more on studies + high GPA to get a permanent full time job, competing with locals + landed immigrants.

@ enfield: watsup bro Cheesy its been long since I last visited the forum....are you in Canada now?

Anyway, about the earning: IT IS IMPOSSIBLE to earn living expense + tuition at once during terms. PERIOD Tongue

It is possible to earn both while off-terms like summer but other than that, living expense is only possible.

The illegal works are called cash jobs and there are certain problems with that:
1. Low wage
2. They don't pay you timely
3. You cannot place any sort of complain to authority (since you are working illegally)

About agents, agents are good for applying to Australia and UK but not for Canadian Universities (even in BD). Do it on your own and you will get things done faster, MUST faster to be honest.

Concordia has one of the best business school in Canada and their CGPA req is 3.0 (I think) and due to strict competition, the accepted candidates have scores much higher than that.

Lastly, on one of the enfield's comment about high gpa to get a permanent job, that is not required actually over here. If you are a graduate (and if you can graduate, you cgpa will be higher than 3.0 Tongue in graduate studies) and know someone inside, you will be able to secure a job Cheesy It is a good thing over here that they don't judge you with gpa but with your qualification and references Cheesy

There is absolutely no way you can work to cover your tuition fees and that too of Masters which is considerably higher.
