All,

I am currently on a closed work permit which expires later on this year. My wife was granted an open work permit as well. Our marriage failed and we separated. We both have a stable source of income and live apart. I have filed the divorce in my country of origin.

Do I need to notify Inmigration Canada? If so, what is the procedure to be followed? Also, how long do I have to wait before I can sponsor another person (girlfriend)?

I would appreciate your advise on the matter.

Kind regards,

Yoanis.

Your wife's OWP should be cancelled as you are no longer in a relationship.

You can't sponsor a "girlfriend".
