Hi, I was wondering if anyone could help me out with this question.

My girlfriend entered Canada from Poland on January 16th, 2010. She has since extended her visitor visa twice and is allowed to stay until June 30th, 2012. I am a naturalized Canadian citizen. We would like to visit the USA this coming winter and I was wondering what the necessary steps are to do this? If we visit the USA will she be able to re-enter Canada? I have read that visitors are allowed to leave to the USA and return, but I am not sure if this information is correct. Her visitor visa is single entry.

If her visitor visa is for single then she can not return. she can apply for multiple entry visa, because her visa is valid till June 30th 2012

Actually she can, if she only visits the US or St. Pierre et Miquelon, she will be re-admitted to Canada up until the 30/06/12.

PMM is correct, I believe, but just to be sure, if you are driving to the USA, ask the Canadian border guard if your girlfriend can re-enter with her visa. If not, turn around and don't leave Canada.

Am really interested in this case cos i plan to do the same very soon but i want to ask. what happens if his girlfriend did not leave Canada by June 2012 when her visa might have expired?and how many times can she apply for extension as she already extended her stay twice? Will it be grantedn the third time?
Thank you.

Depends upon the reason for the extension and the officer processing the extension application.
