Hi everyone!

I came to Canada as a landed immigrant a year ago and plans to sponsor my mother from the Philippines next year.  My mom wants me to go home after submitting the application because she felt so lonely living alone by herself.

I just want to ask will the embassy base the financial requirement on a yearly basis or only upon application? 'Coz I plan to fly back and forth while the papers are in process, so for sure my income for that period will be lower than the financial requirement. I am concern if that is the case, will it affect my application.

Thanks and best regards!

As a Canadian PR you are required to remain in Canada in order to be eligible to sponsor a family member to come to Canada.

If they try to contact you and you are unavailable in Canada, they can refuse the ap for an ineligible sponsor.

Hi RobsLuv,

If I use a lawyer and file the paperwork through them and then travel for about 1- 2 months and then leave come back to resume my residency requirements in Canada will that still be a problem?

If I use a lawyer for the sponsorship process, wouldn't CIC send all correspondence to the lawyer?  I really intend to live in Canada, its just that I need to attend my home country to attend my religious marriage ceremony and then travel to Canada with my wife - planning to apply for Tourist Visa under duel intent doctrine.

Any advice, or alternate options greatly appreciated.  THANKS
